Objective:To design a flagship retail space, spa and juice bar for an organic skin product and cleaning product company.

Problem:How is this space going to attract consumers to come in not just for retail but also for spa and juice bar?

Concept:Organic Nature

Solution:Created a focal point in center of stairs, which is visual from entire front facade. This will attract street crowd in and retail guest to travel up to spa. Juice bar is located next to stairs also visual from street.

Concept came from the product itself.

Chartreuse believes in taking care of our health and environment. Since this space is open with plenty of natural light, the idea of connecting people with nature came to mind.

Two entries. The plaza entry is the main entry and the parking entry will allow people to enter from parking lot as well as street.

Plaza entry leads customers to body product, stairs and juice bar.

Parking entry leads to body product keeping the same feel as main entry then leads into home care products.

Chartreuse

Chartreuse offers: facial care products, body products for women, men and children, home care products and make-up.

Page 3: Portfolio

Juice bar located before stairs will guide customers to have a beverage before approaching spa.

Retail & Spa

Windows are treated with a tinted film that prevents a lot of heat coming into the space, which could melt the products.

Objective: To design a corporate office for Orbit Baby. The company is doubling its staff and plans to move to a larger space and launch more products. The goal is to still keep a close relationship in a large work space.

Concept:Connected Rotation

Problem:Keeping staff members collaborative in such a large work space with many different offices.

Solution:Placed round glass nodes throughout both floors, which creates a connecting point for easy collaboration in all areas.

Concept came from the characteristics of the stroller. The stroller featues a 360 degree rotation seat which gave the idea of gears.

Gears rotate but are still con-nected. The idea was to keep a rotation feel throughout the space representing the design of the product, while still keeping connected. Nodes will be con-nected to work spaces making it more efficient for collaboration in such a large space.

4 Ns that make a work environment successful:

Narrative: Rotation feel will represent product’s main element. A story of the product is being told.

Nodal: Connecting point will allow for better collaboration.

Neighborly: Nodes being open and glass will keep a neighborly feel throughout the space.

Nomadic: Including more private nodes will allow for people to work inde-pendently when needed.

Keeping nodes close will make

collaboration more efficient. Nodes are placed in all work spaces for easy access.

Nodes are easily accessible for both staff members who are in work spaces or traveling through the space.

Nodes are both public and semi private. Public nodes are more accessible to everyone and private ones are more accessible to its connected work space.

Corporate

The red, round chairs used in the nodes rotates creating the

narrative aspect.

The node acts as a connecting

point creating a nodal aspect.

The Nodes being glass and open allows staff to see one another creating a

neighborly aspect.

The more private nodes allow people to work alone creating a

nomadic aspect.

Objective:To design an upscale restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton hotel that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with the same level of service.

Concept:Royalty

Problem:The existing Ritz-Carlton hotel restaurant did not attract many street or hotel guests. The intent was to add more services that would attract guests.

Solution:Increased menu and provided variety of ways to dine, making it convenient for a customer on the go as well as a customer staying to dine. Having more choices will attract more guests into the resaurant. Designed dining, a sushi bar, hibachi private dining and lounge that offers pastries and tea.

Concept derived from the Japanese word

Kouzoku, which means royalty.

The intent was to create a grand, Japanese influenced interior that resembled the high level of service the hotel offers.

Stone columns, grand furniture, and plants were implemented to represent the concept and also, Japanese culture.

Objective:To design a contemporary residential space on the first and second levels of a condominium.

Concept:Gathering

Problem:How do you keep kitchen, dining room and living spaces open and flexible for user’s needs while entertaining guests?

Solution:Kept an open space throughout living room, dining room and kitchen. Lots of kitchen and dining stor-age and counter space was implemented through-out for more efficient entertaining.

Residential

Concept derived from the clients’ passion for en-tertaining and outdoor activities. Combining the two gave the idea of outdoor gatherings such as camping.

Open

Private

Entertaining area is located at entry and away from private and more quiet areas such as bedrooms, baths and office nook.

Entry

The open space will connect the three entertaining spaces.

Using the camping idea, this seating arrangement came to mind.

Page 18: Portfolio

Residential

Gathering can easily be done with the right seat-ing and space layout. With the camping idea, this seating arrangement came to mind.

Living Room First Level

Private

Open

This plan did not work because there are no windows on the wall where the orange strip is located. Bedrooms are required to have windows.

Private

Open

This plan worked because the windows on the wall where the two blue strips will allow for nat-ural light to travel through open areas. Private areas have plenty of windows.

Objective:To design a ready to wear retail space in an upscale shopping area of Beverley Hills, California.

Concept:Sexy Theatrical

Problem: The location is on Rodeo Drive where there is major foot traffic. The intent is to create attention grabing window displays that are going to attract customers into this boutique and not other major competitors around with similar product.

Solution:Designed interesting, eye grabbing displays in win-dow view that are lit up in the evening.

Concept came from what Christian Louboutin believes his shoes does to a woman’s legs. Makes them look long and sexy effortlessly.

Christian Louboutin

Christian Louboutin stores are designed with a specific aesthetic with displays. The de-signer believes the shoe should be treated like royalty and be displayed in its own palace.

Arch Shoe Display Frame Shoe Display

Vignettes throughout display women’s arms and legs either holding the product or wearing it. This creates a sexy and theatrical look. Level changes and hanging displays throughout create drama.

Retail

During space planning, a main focus was to keep shoe displays adja-cent to back of house and an eye catching vi-gnette at entry.

Process Sketch

This first plan wasn’t work-ing because there was no natural flow from entry to the back. Also, bathroom wasn’t hidden and was too close to front of house.
