Mozambique

Eco- VillaGe

The country is Moçambique and the project

represents the result of a study for integration

of eco-entretainement villages in two

comunities.

With the collaboration of biologos e

antropólogos there was a study that defines

several building caracteristics , that should be

used in the future eco-villages.

It was defined the concepts for villagesIt was defined the concepts for villages

inplanntation, for louge and for turist rooms.

The idea is to conect the rooms with some water

canal, in order to adapt it to the terrain. The

lounge and the rooms are based on local

constructions. First one is rounded to

acoomodate restaurant, reception, bar, the

seconds are rectangular shape with

desfazamento in order to create sipatial

situations for turists acommodation.

All these buidildings will be constructed by local

workers in order to keep tradictional tecnics of

earth and wood walls and of straw roofs.

Reconstruction and extension

School in Açores

This is a basic school that needed new complex.

The old buildings, due to the architectural

interest should be kept and adapted. The

program is extensive, so it was necessary to

create new building to respond to that.

The concept was integrate the new building with

the old ones in a dialogue of contrast between

old/new. The main administrations functions are

in new building, so as the entrance. The rest of

,

in new building, so as the entrance. The rest of

the program was inserted in the terrain in

different levels transforming the covertures in

school yards. All the new buildings are in

concrete, but special one, made with local

stones and washed after, so that the new

buildings reflect the local character in a

contemporary way and also to became a cheap

solution for the client.

MINIT Hospital

This is preliminary project.

It have around 50 000 square meters and itsupposed to be the main hospital of Angola. This project has already being executedwhen i entered to help developing thefaçades.

The main idea was already defined in twoThe main idea was already defined in twolarge floors with several yards, one middlefloor for technical machines, and at last thetree floors for internal.

The idea of façades is transform the straitstereotomy of concrete panels in somethingwith rhythm doing that in an abstractcomposition of windows and lack of panels, but always regarding the function of theinside compartments. The building forinpatient consultations is mainly of glassprotected by painted concrete panels, so thatthe inside rooms can be protected ofextreme African sun and by the colors reflectsome of that people culture.

The concept for the building organization is the

connection of the reading rooms in one glass

The final project is about nine villages in the

moutain of Lousã. They are specific for being

abandonned but they have a lot of potencial as

rural heritage. The study proposed a

revitalization project for those shale villages.

After the study of the terrain it was proposed a

system of rural turism that connect them all and

together they will complement each other.

Project IVThe design concept is to divide the program by

areas. One volume is library, for childrens and

adults, the other is administration, conference

room , and archive. In the midle the entrance

and the articulation between the two volumes.

Due to the nature of the program one bulding is

more open to the square, the other closes it self.

Wood glass and concrete are the main

materials.materials.

The outside squre is empty, open to the beach,
