Project Brief:
We were asked to develop a proposal fro all of 30 sites on 8th street in Vrededorp that deals with middle to high density sub/urban livinig, in the form of semi-detached or row housing.
The aim was to design a contextual update of these resi-dential types and imagine adequate forms on how to live together.
One focus was on how the housing unit and the street , together , can contribute to the neighborhoods identity for the resident.
The project was then developed as a council submission in the in the construction course. Council information on services and infrustructure requirements needed to be obtained and intergrated.

The focus of this study is on President Street Street, the traditional high street of Germiston, housing the greatest variety of functions and buildings. The street is an important link between the initia-tives of the LocalCouncil and those of commercial developers. The Urban Framework aims to re-establish President Street as one ofthe primary public streets in the Germiston Inner City.
The Civic Precinct is the focus of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Mu-nicipality (EMM), and its aim to develop Germiston as its Admin-istrative Capital (Metropolitan Headquarters).
The proposed Commercial Precinct is to be developed primarily on the Golden Walk Shopping Centre siteand stretches from Jack/Park Street in the north toGeorge Street in the south, and from Rand Road in the east to Victoria Street.
The success of this project at a regional scale will depend on its abil-ity to intergrate this city and its different pricincts.

Abstract :
The client (Urban Genisis) was looking at trying to bring night-life into Kerk Street Johannesburg, a place designated to licenced street traders during the day. Surrounding buildings have recently been converted from office to residential buildings so an intervention that focused on activat-ing the street for the new tenants was the core of this proposal.
My Invovlement:
At the end of 2013 Nolan O. Dennis and I together with the Keleketla Library (http://keleketla.org/) proposed an intervention that revovled around providing free public wi-fi in a setting designed to be comfort-able enough for an older crowd, with the view that in future various other kinds of projects can develop.
Interconnected - Connect kerk street residents to each other and to RID
Forge a kerk street community via a physical and digital topography`
Adaptable, modular street furniture that can be used for food stalls, games, using laptops etc.
Kerk street forum can become a virtual community of residents, artists, visitors and management.
Adaptable mounting/screening systems that can be used for exhibition purposed or live screenings.
Abstract :
Corner loving, an exhibition on the practice of lovers meeting on street corners, is an ex-ploration of love and ‘black love’ in complex urban settings. Exploring the nature of eve-ryday public practice, MADEYOULOOK is interested in unpacking ordinary acts that may be overlooked as simple and inconse-quential, but through deeper reflection, act as vehicles for multi-layered conversations.
The exhibition features drawings of corners, texts from historical archives and by con-temporary writers, as well as a lecture series that explores the various thematic aspects represented in corner loving. Lectures will be presented by Ashraf Jamal, Danai Mu-potsa and Thembinkosi Goniwe.
MADEYOULOOK is Molemo Moiloa and Nare Mokgotho. The works of MADEYOU-LOOK are, as the name suggests, tongue-in- cheek interventions that encourage a re-observation of and de-familiarization with the ordinary.
