Well-Being Design CollectionWell-Being Design is the concept of integrating assistive technology into everyday furnishings to assist someone with a disability. They are pieces that have the aesthetic value of ones found in the residential industry, but meet the functions of those found in the health care industry. They are intended to be used by everyone, but have the added benefit of assisting someone with a disability.
The demographic chosen for this collection is children age 4-10. Children this age are more susceptible to factos that can affect their development, and having stigmatizing furnishings in their homes can lead to negative affects on this development.
To achieve this goal, three different design areas were combined into one concept. Integrating the users needs through Human Centered Design, accommodating for the user with Universal Design, and using Systems Furniture as the tools for how the designs function.

Our concept was “authenticity”, and our challenge was demonstrating it through a tangible Object. Through group discussions we decided that authe- nticity is not about the object, but rather your interaction and experience with the object.
