“LA CLEF, C’EST: REGARDER ... REGARDER / OBSERVER / VOIR / IMAGINER / INVENTER / CREER”
The origin of this project is the necessity of creating some structures that can be built up in the summer and taken down during the winter. It is set in the city of Venice. The first input starts from the morphological analysis of two islands, St George and St Elena. Both of them present a “lack of land”, where it seems that a part of the ground has been removed. The new structures should complete their shape. The space created provides functions that are coherent with the context, in fact the two islands already have some sports structures on them. There are two platforms: the first on St. George island hosts a yacht club; the second one is located in St. Elena island and lodges a skate-park.The frame is composed by some triangular modules, which allow greater freedom of design, while maintaining the fundamental idea.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES2D and 3D digital drawings, graphical editing and layout, design team, constructural details.

In this project, the theme of Sustainability is represented by “low technologies”, trying to find simple, low cost and low environmental impact solutions. The city of Barcelona has a perfectly squared grids of streets and city blocks. These blocks are called Manzanas and they measure in at 113m per side. Barcelona has 600 manzanas that act as little cells of the city. The project is set in one of those and welcomes residential buildings and a student residence. The perimetral one is made of two parallel structures to maximize a good ventilation, constructed with recyclable materials, precast and dry constructive system. The building that develops inside the courtyard, exploits the benefits of the Cross-Laminated Timber (KLH): sustainable alternative to traditional materials; no wet trades; speed of construction; reduction in overall cost of construction; design flexibility and architectural freedom; precision as panels are manufactured; and structural capabilities. The student residence as a particular south facade, whose purpose is protecting from the sun in the summer and storing the solar heat in the winter.

ArchMedium Competition wanted “to propose the design of the “New York Theatre City”. It is an urban theatre campus where smaller companies can dispose of rehearsal spaces, and the new spectacles can show themselves to the world offering an always young, new and different cultural activity. For New York City, the campus must become a public space, where the citizens can go to and take a walk in an artistic environment out of the crowded Broadway area. They can also go in to one of the multiple rooms the complex has to offer, to be astonished with a new piece of fantasy placed on stage, for a couple of hours.”
Our project was based on this:
_GENERAL PURPOSE: the project aims to create a new theatrical center, which is developed through the vitality of the human resources flows and is self-sufficient thanks to the renewable energy production, to the increase of the horizontal and vertical biotic surface, to the new technologies usage.
_HUMAN RESOURCES: the creative potential lies in the variety of people that exchange artistic and cultural ideas and become active participants of the dramatic action.
_INNOVATION: the use of wireless networks allows a maximum exchange of creativity and continuous renewal of the schedule, giving the possibility to express their agreement by votes. This dynamism is also guaranteed by the free and flexible spaces, that are not defined anymore, but made up of technology platforms in which the viewer can become part of the show.
_ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY: it minimizes the environmental impact, using as much renewable energy and increasing biotic surface vertically. The theatrical platform on the Hudson produces energy through the exploitation of water and sun.
_ECONOMIC BENEFIT: the project involves the creation of a self-evolving system in terms of energy and money through the export of the excess energy produced and the cultivation of food inside the area.

partecipanti attivi dell’azione teatrale.

The urban and residential project is located in the city of Cordoba, Spain. It starts from the analysis of the Andalusian territory around the city and his urbanization. We studied the connections between the environment and the infrastructures, and found that there is a close historical link between urban development and the river flowing through it. This link needs to be reconnected trying to find solving solutions for the flood risks, which is recurrent in this city, because of river infiltration difficulties. Some thematic sequences, that cross the river and that share common features, have been identified. For those we designed an abacus of solutions. In particular we focused on the artistic and cultural sequence, where we planned the realization of a residential area in which are settled family houses, student residence, shops and sports fields.

The sequence that we considered goes through the old town and new areas of expansion. It is a geographically strategic point because it develops along the loop of the Guadalquivir river. This situation gives the opportunity to think of new possibilities for the water reuse in a context that does not allow intrusive interventions. This multi-layer network optimizes the efficient use of water throughout the city and meets the needs of the city despite the shortage of this resource.

The clients had required a custom-made bookshelf for their books and the music album collections. The aluminium structure reduces the shelves gauge without losing strength. With the warp of the grey larch floor and the horizontal shelves, the room seems bigger and the light colored furniture lends more brightness. At last, the yellow sandstone wall gives colour and orginality to the living room.
