ISLA DORADA (GOOLDEN ISLAND)

RESTAURANT

LOCATION

South Amercia Maracaibo City

PROJECT: Restaurant

DATE: 2010

LOCATION: Isla Dorada – Maracaibo –

Venezuela

LAND PLOT: 1.835,58 m2

IMPORTANT FACTS

Isla Dorada (Golden Island) is a place

conceived by man, since it is a filling made

of white sand in the Maracaibo Lake.

Something very characteristic of that area,

are the communication routes (Bridges)

that connect the three parts of the island.

This area is currently undergoing a

process of urbanization, so that in the

future can integrate completely to the

activities of Maracaibo City.

This Restaurant Design is based on the integration and close connection between nature and the building itself (Integration of dualities). Since this proposal is located in a land created by man in the Maracaibo lake, the objective was to integrate the nature in this architectural proposal. The intention to unite different basic shapes (curves, straight lines , angles, etc) is to try to manipulate the perception of the observer by changing in a subtle way the shape of the building by proposing this game of forms. Also by using different angles in the roof of the building, the spaces gain different spatial qualities that generate dynamism and allow natural light and the context to infiltrate the building by removing the barriers that usually exist between the outside and the inside.

This house was born from a module, which was repeated to create a rhythm to make it seem that the house had movement. This module was the same in terms of area but each one had different heights at the beginning and at the end, to give the impression that the house opens in one of the facades. The topography was also modified so it could that the same design apply to the house, could be incorporated to the land lot by creating different levels. As for the design of the land lot it can be said, that the distribution of the trees was made with the purpose of uniting all parts of the house by creating the illusion that the entire land is the house

The proposal seeks to create a place of a civic and plural nature. An open space: a new public place for the city. Being this a proposal for a local library the real question was, how to create a building that has an open relationship with public spaces?, but at the same time creating the introspective and private spaces that a library should offer to the users. Internally the building creates a patio / square, which is the most important space and visual of the building, surrounded by a distinctly urban environment.

LAND PLOT: 4.443,02 m2

IMPORTANT FACTS: This land lot is

an open space in the middle of the

city surrounded by buildings that

don not have significant height,

which gives the opportunity to create

a building that can become a

symbol and a reference point.

The Design Concept of this Hotel was to create a diverse and dynamic building in a context surrounded by an architecture that lacks movement. In the inside of this Hotel, we can observe how the spaces and the design of the floor plans represent that change and dynamism of the concept by creating different angles and breaking with the stereotype of the 90° walls. As for the project structure we can observe how the different floors spin around a core that keeps everything together and generates a hierarchy in the design. The building offers different spaces from public areas to an infinity pool, playground, restaurant, gym, ballroom, meeting rooms, with different views of the city in each floor and a background of the Maracaibo Lake

The concatenated city sets out to counteract the contrast generated between the concentrated and the void, the chaos created by the absence of control, the overflowing occupation of natural and protected areas, the unbalanced of the urban equipment, plus a growing city with a misperception of its coastline

This Design aims to connect the city through natural and artificial networks (roads and glens) proposed hierarchically: concatenated Axis (North-South), a Linker axis (East-West), a bond (Secondary) and Natural Unions (glens) , this last one generates a structure of green and public spaces designed to unite and become part of the daily life of the habitants, reflecting their needs, customs and way of life. All of the above creates a city that is balanced in its activities and equipments, creating new links that arise from the intersection of axes, the hierarchy of these links will depend of the hierarchy of the axes connecting, and whose function will be set depending on the deficiencies of equipments and industry needs In the area. This is a methodology is adapted to a particular area of study, and is born as a urban model.

PROJECT: Vertical – Multi Family

House.

DATE: 2012.

LOCATION: Av 22D – C/100 A.

LAND LOT: 5.410,11 m2.

IMPORTANT FACTS:

The need to relocate and adapt the way

of live of the families that use to life in a

single story house.

This building and its design responds to the different scales and heights that are present in the area. This design meets the needs of users and habitants, as they are people who have a close relationship between them. This building and it´s concept allowed to develop inside the building a common space where they can continue their customs (porches, and open spaces where they can coexist). This porches sometimes can be read as a terrace, allowing users to generate a diverse place where everyone can re-create the activities previously carried out on the porch of their single house. As a relevant characteristic we find that the building has two different functions, aside from housing, which are a commercial area and a public space.

LAND LOT: 5.112,10 m2

IMPORTANT FACTS:

The land lot where this proposal is place,

has a topography, that has a 8m level

variation. Because of this, has the

characteristic of being divided in two: a

flat area, and a an area where we find

the topography changes.

Also this Design Proposal is part of the

Urban proposal of a Concatenated City

The high cost of housing construction leads to certain alternatives such as the incorporation of progressivity in the housing scheme work. This design proposal aims to create an alternative progressive housing growth that balance the productivity, self - construction, flexibility and planning to help solve the housing shortage in Venezuela. Frame progressive housing is a proposal that poses the succession of volumes, each volume place strategically in relation to the previous volume position within a common structure, leading to changes at each propose and plan gowning stage. This proposal is based on "accepting the intervention of people, allowing changes throughout time, and proposing an architecture that is able to separate what remains of what is capable of changing". This structure is designed to withstand the changes of each growing phase.

FRAME PROGRESSIVE

HOUSING

These Frame Housing as the name implies are “viewers” with a clear physical boundaries, these houses are born from the need to visually connect the internal space of the house with the context. The space generated by the four elements of the framework will be livable and will serve as an intermediary between the inside the house and context As a result we have a design scheme that poses the possibility of increasing the construction square feet by improving their standards and creating a housing proposal that can go from a space for three people to a house able to have enough space for thirteen people, also with this design scheme this housing proposal for a single family can evolve to a multifamily housing. This frame housing is diverse enough to achieve eight different housing proposals
