During my stay at Vo Trong Nghia Arch., I discovered the real need for light and water that south-east societies demand. Not only from the aesthetic point of view, but most important, its impact on both CO2 emission and health.

Vo Trong Nghia Architects is bringing nature back to cities. Providing Vietnam and specially Ho Chi Minh with green architecture in every scale is not only desirable, but necessary. That was the responsability I wanted to accept when aplying for the office.

Setting a tradition in the last years, Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (SCAF) designates one of the best Asian studios to build a pavilion that, in an itinerant exhibition, reveals the technologies that have led, in this case, Vo Trong Nghia Architects, to success. Currently on construction, the pavilion will serve as an example of high perfomance, on bamboo.

BackPackers Hostel reveals the dynamism of Ho Chi Minh City as a convergent point of the many travelers who, discovering Southeast Asia, see in the city a good spot to connect Cambodia and the North of Vietnam. A multiprogramatic buil-ding, with a large welcoming entrance, offers since the very first moment an inten-se relation between inside and outside, losing the limit.

As part of the prestigious exhibition and the magnificent architects that TOTO invites every year, like Toyo Ito or Campo Baeza, this years exhibition was a per-fect time to showcase the great perfomance of Bamboo in the 21st century, as the Asian steel. Buckley HouseIt is a solution to an asphyxiated city, finding the balance throughout nature. The idea is to divide the house by environments in a vertical way, and to arrange the spaces by at-mospheres, more than uses.

The Wildcare Center is placed in Kruguer Park, SouthAfrica, and the idea is make a contribution to the value and care of the protected species, especially the Big Five, and help to collect money by visitors. These, in a different way, will be able to find accommodation in a different place in a different site.

SchoolFinal Thesis. Hedi Slimanes House-Atelier

Hedi Slimane is the greatest french fashion designer, and the water reservoirs in Paris, close to Arc de Triumphe, where his house and atelier are pretended to be moving, must be an example of his work and his contribution to the world. The project is a study on the old and the new, on placing in the limits, without destro-ying, but constructing.

As an study on the contemporary scenario of retail and the big contribution of the car to the cities, good or bad, the mall represents the society, but wants to aspire to a higher cause, by proclaiming chaos as a good guest for consumption. Raising as a tent, the design conquers as much room as it can be, by mixing different atmos-pheres and making them live together and stablishing a sinergy.
