Individual Student Behavior Plan

As a classroom community, it is essential to effectively manage the behavior and learning of all students.

In my classroom, one student in particular, needed additional structure to keep his hands to himself, remain focused (engaged), on task and not blurting.

This student really liked basketball, so I incorporated his interest into the behavior plan as a means to personalize it.

Classroom Learning Community

The students in our class created a social contract. This was an agreement among our class family that we would abide by the rules stated.

Everyone had the opportunity to provide input when deciding the rules. Each student and teacher signed the contract.

When students have broken a rule that is stated on the contract, he/she is reminded that the contract was signed and is asked to read the social contract and reflect on actions, which need to be changed in the future.

Classroom Management

I believe in building a classroom community. Such a community must have clear expectations, which must be followed at all times. When rules are not followed, appropriate and effective consequences ensue.

A great method to achieve this, which I implemented during my internship, is the ‘money system.’ I created ‘Loby Loot,’ where students receive money for following directions, staying on task, helping friends, being responsible, etc. Money is taken away as well. Students get to cash in their money weekly for prizes.

This proved to be very successful, because it minimized disruptive behavior.
