The aim of the studio is study the formation and function of the residential super block which is the cell of city during the rapid urbanization in China, especially in Beijing. China is experiencing a rapid economic growth as well as real estate development. The super block with its tremdous size and complicated functionality, is a major form of real estate develpment. However, problems rise as the protection of arable land stands in the way. As the servere lost of the arable land is greatly threatening the food supply, government has issued several documents to ensure the ratio of the arable land to urban development. In this project, such confliction will be discussed as the main focus.

The traditional agrarian model starts with a plane rice paddy.
Given Land
The land is divided into several parts in or-der based on the labor worked in the paddy.
Partition
Redidential houses are located on the pe-rimeter.
Redidence
A shared public space is located in the middle.
Public Space
The Shared publci spaces are elevated to free the ground level as well as to suit the highrise.
Elevated Public Spaces
Instead of doing several low sprawling residence, high rise are preferred in order to save land.

To solve the confliction between urbanization and the prec-tion of the Arable land, the proposal is aiming at transforming the architecture elements into infractures supporting agrari-an plantation. While designing a farm in the city, a lot of prob-lems rises such as the heavy air pollution, the water shortage and the position of the rice paddy. The diagram shows that how the city could be connected through different ecological systmes and how the conventional architecture component could serve a ecological funciton.

In the third stage, the left-over is going to be the memorial. What I want to create is the museum within the archieve. By traceing the the use-to-be public spaces, the walking ex-perience is going to recall the dewellers the life after the disater.

Traditional Chinese cooking requires 8 steps: picking up the food, classifying the food, storing the food, cleaning the food, chopping the food, temperary storage for adding salt and pepper, cooking the food, cleaning the utensils.
Traditionally, food are stored in a closed fridge. By reversing it, problems mentioned in the previous page could be solved.
Based on the storage conditions, differ-ent fruits and vegetables are classified into different cubes. Also, the cube could also serve as other functions for the kitchens.

Parametric Building Facade Design 1Selected by the School Journal as Possible publication
The proposal is aiming at designing a bay terrace system which applied only to office buildings with ocean view. Such system skirts around the perimeter of the target building, proving spaces for creation activities. The scale of each cell or unit is determined by various conditions such as sunlight, wind velocity and the view of the ocean. Ideally, the bay terraces will serve as a self-adaptive system which responds to each unique conditions.

Parametric Building Facade Design 2Selected by the School Journal as Possible publication
The Proposal is aiming at design a parametric self-con-trollable shading facade. The parameter is controlled by the angle and movement of the sun. The adaption of the basic trianglar form is to meet the need of constructional stability.
