Luca is now creating elegant, natural, organic wines with no pesticides at his small winery using his love, patience, and dedication to the craft

2019 was a very interesting vintage, similar to 2016. After a cold winter with some snow, the vegetation began 7/10 days later than other vintages. The spring months alternated heavy rains with hot and sunny days. They allowed steady and rapid growth. From June a period of drought began which eased the pressure of vine diseases, allowing to decrease the treatments of the season, arriving at the closure of the bunch with few interventions. Excellent flowering and subsequent fruit set finished in early June. In the months of August and September, the water stress favored the thickening of the grapes and a balanced fruit ripening. The strong temperature range of the pre-harvest weeks slowed the course of ripening, preserving the total acidity of the grape.

The harvest began in early September to preserve the natural acidity of the grapes and the quality of the bunches.

The wine was aged in steel and barriques for the winter months, then bottled in April and marketed in the following months.

Wine Making

Ceniciento is produced in the dry coastal area of Maule, Cauquenes, Chile. This terroir represents the expression of this strain in its splendor. The grape is destemmed and selected, part of the grape is slightly cracked to subtly release its juice. It begins with a cold maceration of 3 days to slow down the beginning of the alcoholic fermentation. The alcoholic fermentation is carried out with wild yeast, we made soft pump-overs to homogenize the contents. Temperatures are controlled so it reaches no more than 24-25°. Once the alcoholic fermentation is done, skins, seeds, and wine are kept an extra 8 days. The free run and pressing wine were blend. The aging was made in fifth use French oak barrels for 12 months. Wines Produced by Moretta Wines. Moretta Wines was born by the hand of Natalia Poblete and Maria Jose Ortuzar, friends for 16 years.
