Phase IV

Research Proposal Background

Tablet is a different medium than desktop or laptop. People interact with it differently by using a touch screen or a stylus.

Conceptual Model

User Reaction: •  Attitude •  Purchase Intention •  Viewing Behavior

Device: Desktop

VS. Tablet & PC

Prototypes

Music Store

Device Setup Tobii X120 eye tracker. Sample rate of 60Hz.

Measurements •  Survey:

•  User attitudes •  Perceptions •  Intentions.

•  Heat map: •  Viewing behavior.

Proposed Analysis

•  T-test for survey data •  Heat maps will be inspected manually.

Prototype Design and Develop The website: •  Include all elements in an e-commerce website. •  Is compatible with all devices, e.g. mobile phone,

tablet and laptop.

Using sliding elements to test the influence of

physical interaction with

tablet.

Using both sliding and static

elements for comparison.

Using some photos of pretty female faces to test distraction.

UX Test Strategy Design

What I did: •  Implementing test functions in JavaScript. •  Questions are shown in random sequences. •  Every element has a unique ID number that will be shown in a pop up window when is clicked. •  Timestamp of each click, total numbers of clicks and answers are recorded and exported to MS Excel automatically after each test.

Test steps: Step 1: Watch introduction video and calibration. Step 2: Find the ID numbers to answer the questions on the page banner. Step 3: Answer a survey.

What I learned: •  How to set up Tobbi eye-tracking device. •  Try to make sure all tester experience the same testing environment. •  Never make users feel negative. •  Banning the search button.

The End

I am still on my way to user-centered design…

Could you help me to continue my adventure?

Thank you !
