2007_undergraduate residence in the via Ovada, Milano - The Via Ovada area
in Milan is subject to redevelopment where a student’s centre is planned. It will offer both
day care services such as study rooms, a library and the internet as well as the possibility
of temporary accommodation. The work looks for a relationship with the urban structure
using the same orthogonal grid for distribution in the plan. In section, however, the
space takes on an odulated sculptural form to achieve the objective, firstly, to close the
gap between the road and the park and, secondly, to respond to students’ needs. The
guesthouse building is located at the end of the public square so dividing the city and
the park. / 2008 _development project for the public farmhouses in Milan - There are many farmhouses situated on the outskirts of Milan, which are now incorpora-
ted into the urban structure, that retain their architectural characteristics. The purpose
was to exploit the real estate in order to build a network of reception centres. In the
project to develop the Garegnano farmhouse, object of our proposal, the two main points
were to verify the exploitable district potential to insert our project harmoniously into the
existing social fabric and the self-sustainability of the centre itself. In relation to the
architectural structure we tried to maintain the courtyard structure of the farmhouse,
which is very useful for the community./ 2008 _ museum and technological park in Portello area, Milan - This area of Milan is growing fast. Renewable energy is at
the heart of the project that foresees a public park, a specific museum on this theme and
a residential area. The subject area extends between Piazzale Accursio and a dual
carriageway which divides the area from Mount Stella park. A specific feature are the
existing historic buildings which we were explicitly required to maintain and upgrade.
The exhibition building was designed like a large pavilion, which was the park’s entrance
and reference point. The design of the park includes a large grassy area with a complex
design around the pavilion and a path that passes by intermittent wooded areas leading
to the road./ 2009_High density residential area, Shanghai - Hongkou, a district
of Shanghai, currently appears as a high density slum. The city townhall plans to
upgrade the area with a high density housing development of 300,000 square meters,
which will also include 10% services. The idea was to reproduce the dynamics of the
historical Shanghai’s residential neighbourhoods (the Lilong houses) in a high density
complex. The main feature of these settlements is the gradual transition from public to
semi-private spaces to those totally private. The project proposes a continuous open
public space that winds between the different groups of buildings which are placed at a
lower level in order to have a private area as a traditional garden. Public space is also
situated under the ground floor, where services are present.

2010 _ Pilgrim’s reception centre and school of music, Jerusalem - The project is located in Jerusalem,
within the Ottoman walls of the old city, near the New
Gate. It hosts a school of music open to the local
population and a reception centre for pilgrims, that
consists in a museum that provides an introduction to
visiting the sanctuaries and a demonstration lab of local
handicrafts.
Initially we had to deal with an undefined program, trying
to understand the real needs of the monks and then adapt
the construction volume accordingly.
A second theme was the relationship with the context: We
had to keep the existing building next to the street and
many façades were.
The building, according to the materiality of the city, is
concieved as a single large stone that is dug obtaining a
large introvert open space within which all public activities
are carried out.
Spaces dedicated to music are designed considering their
acoustic needs. This has been enhanced through the use
of explicit different language in shape as well as materials.

2007_Exhibition “che cos’è la verità?”, Rimini - The exhibition
starts describing the figure of Lev Tolstoj to get to explain the new contact
point between fatih and culture, faith and reason, developed around the
Optina’s monastery, an attraction point to the simple people and also to
the intellectual one. The exhibition’s arrengement should consider the
budget’s low rate and the labour of volunteers with lack of experience
besides designing confortable and significant spaces. During the project
process with a team of friends, we were tutored by an architect and often
compared with electricians and carpenters. Once the project fase ended I
contributed with the arrengement building itself./ 2009 _ Feleit - Hotel & Resort. Preliminary draft - The Feleit’s Hotel expansion presentes
some clear design problems. First of all the hotel is located at the same
level of a ski slope’s threshold and the acces road is pretty tight and steep.
Moreover, the location is of high interest concerning the environment,
besides its clear visability from the lower valley, which calls for a
significant solution on the theme of landscape inclusion. The entrance
level of the hotel is made of a stone slab, that disappears inside the
mountain, featuring a wellness center and a seminar hall, upon wich is
located a solarium and the entrance for the ski lane, besides a restaurant
with a view to the valley. The upper floors containing the rooms are solved
as two wood blocks linked by a glass joint that opens itself once again to
the downstream./ 2009 _ Milano - Bovisa. Urban design study - the preliminary draft, proposed by the Dutch firm OMA-Rem Koolhaas,
was submitted by the principals of the area (mainly Politecnico di Milano)
to EuroMilano, an engineering studio in Milan, in order to prepare a
variant for the urban area. The project came to the study Arching Progetti
Srl, as a consultant, regarding the architectural design. My role was to
assist the design team and to producuce support graphic works that
allows a more rapid understanding at all levels of interlocutors.

ragione avvenuto intorno all’eremo di Optina, polo
