Mine Planning

You will be exposed to a team focused on value and enabling delivery. The team is comprised of technical mining specialists through to technical translators who are charged with developing strategic direction for the mines.

These exciting opportunities are involved with the strategic planning of the organisation so will cover all spectrums of mining engineering.

Logistics and Infrastructure Planning

The focus is to complete outbound logistics and infrastructure planning. You will support planning and to the business with respect to all outbound logistics and infrastructure activities. You will influence portfolio-wide strategy while applying your technical and modelling expertise. The role requires a strong ability to challenge and facilitate change for execution by infrastructure, rail and port operations. You will work alongside logistics and infrastructure engineers and planners in a dynamic team that measures success by the long-term value created.

Geoscience and Exploration Planning

You will be involved in the acquisition and interpolation of both open pit and exploration data to identify geological structures within the resource. The intent is to provide accurate surfaces for the mining process to maximize recovery. You will provide geological input to both Mine Planning and Production to support mining activities and manage inventories. You will also have the opportunity for project work which may include design of exploration programs, wireline logging interpretation, quality management, and geotechnical hazard management.

You will also be provided with the opportunity to design, refine and implement new processes and procedures with the aim of adding value to Operations and improving the effectiveness of the Geology team.

Ideal Degree/Discipline

All types of Engineering, Geoscience, Law, Business, Business Information Systems or related disciplines.

Renumeration and Eligibility Requirements

BHP interns are remunerated approximately $42,900 plus 9.5% superannuation plus 4 weeks annual leave per annum which is prorated for the specific internship period.

You must be completing your Final or Penutlimate year of university and be an Australian citizen or be a resident with full working rights.
