Postdoctoral Position The Salk Institute

Research Associate/Postdoctoral position available

to work in the area of regulation of gene expression.

We have recently cloned and sequenced the promoter

region of the human fibronectin gene. Expression of

this gene is induced by glucocorticoids, cyclic AMP

and transforming growth factor-b in human

fibrosarcoma ceils, and is repressed by malignant

transformation. Variant cells synthesizing fibronectin

at altered rates have also been obtained. The

research project is to analyze the elements

necessary for expression and regulation of that gene,

in particular the DNA binding sites and the

transcription factors involved. Some experience in

molecular biology and/or protein biochemistry is

desirable but not required. The position is available

immediately and will be supported by an NIH Training

Grant. (U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident status

required). Please contact: Dr. Suzanne Bourgeois,
