Postdoctoral Positions University of California

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the areas of DNA-protein interactions or the molecular biology of the immune response. Chairperson Department of Microbiology College of Biological Science University of Guelph

The University of Guelph is seeking a Chairperson for the Department of Microbiology. Candidates should have an outstanding record of research achievement and interest in promoting high standards in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The.Department has fifteen full time faculty members whose research areas include: i) investigations of cell surfaces using immunological, recombinant DNA and EM techniques, ii) studies of viral and bacterial fish pathogens and response of fish to vaccines, and iii) investigations relating basic aspects of biotechnology to applied problems. Faculty members also participate in the activities of Guelph-Waterloo Biotech, a joint venture of the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo. The Department offers an undergraduate program in Microbiology and a graduate program leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. Currently, 40 undergraduate students majoring in honors microbiology graduate each year while 26 students are enrolled in department graduate programs. The University, with a student population of 11,000 undergraduate and 1 ,168 graduate students, is located in the city of Guelph approximately 80 km west of Toronto. The College of Biological Science, with 2,000 undergraduate majors and 177 graduate students, is one of seven colleges in the University. Faculty Position University of Connecticut Health Center

Applicants must have a research doctorate, should be firmly committed to a career in teaching and have a strong research program in which excellence and independence have been demonstrated. Individuals who are investigating the phenomenon of information transfer via receptor-mediated signals are especially encouraged to apply.

Current interests in the Department include macromolecular structure and function, epithelial-mesenchymal interactions in development, the molecular biology of chondrogenesis, transepithelial transport of ions, neural mechanisms in gustation, neuromotor mechanisms of orofacial function, biological regulation of mineralization, regulation of leukocyte metabolism and secretion, and mechanisms of cell attachment and aggregation during development.
