Application deadline (20 copies): March 31st 1990

The aim of the present ATIPE, proposed by the Life Science CNRS Department, in association with other Scientific Departments(Chemistry, Mathematics, Basic Physics, Applied Physics for the Engineer) are mainly to promote new research groups on the abovecited topics. The goals of the long-term actions (at least three years) are the following:1. Help post-doctoral investigators wishing to master the concepts and techniques in the concerned scientific fields, with, at the end

of the program, the real possibility to be recruited by CNRS.

2. Integrate statutary and non statutary investigators in already established laboratories. In order to achieve the selected programs, the host laboratories will receive specific financial and technical support from CNRS.

The present action is not directed at scientific groups working for a long time on the subject. They are well known by CNRS and

already receive or will receive appropriate support.Scientific topics of the program:1. Preparation of synthetic RNAs

- studies of new methodologies to better prepare synthons required for the production of RNA- preparation of modified RNAs.

2. Structural and functional studies of the artificial synthesized RNAs.- secondary and tertiary structures- reactivity- catalytic activity- stability and biodisponibility

3. Modulation of the genetic expression by synthetic antisens RNAs.- replication- splicing- translation- reverse transcription and encapsidation.

Modalities of application:This action is addressed to post-doctoral Investigators with 1-2 years experience already recruited or not by CNRS, willing to acquirea high level training in one of the concerned topics. They must propose a training-schedule and, if selected, will be supported byATIPE. Their cursus will be followed regularly by the Scientific Committee. At the end of the training program, their recruitment byCNRS will be considered prioritary, in concertation with CNRS National Committee.
