DESCRIPTION OF TESTINGPERFORMANCE TESTINGPositive Displacement Pumps - Testing will be done at 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent of the rated pump speed
and at pressures as near to the rated pressure as possible. The measured quantities will be used to generate
a pump performance curve. Where possible, the pump will be tested at the speed at which the end user will
operate the pump. In some cases the pump will be tested at a reduced speed and affinity laws and other
statistical methods will be used to generate a curve at the end user speed. If possible, tests shall be run at
both the rated discharge pressure with reduced speed and at the rated speed with reduced discharge
pressure.

beginning disassembly and removal of equipment from test facility.
Review the testing plan with the project manager and revise if necessary.
Inspect the equipment to be tested and ensure that it is complete, fully functional, and safe to
operate. Verify that all controls and safeties have been tested, programmed, and calibrated
during assembly.
Set up the equipment to be tested in the test facility. Connect the equipment to the test loop,
charge pump, data acquisition system, and safety interlock.
Prior to actual testing run a short trial test to check the function of data acquisition, data base,
and test report generation systems. Save the trial test data, trial test data base, and trial test
reports to the project folder.
Review the test results with the project manager and perform additional testing if necessary.

This package was brought in and set up. Once the piping and the wiring were connected, we ran a bump test to
check if everything was running correctly and the direction of rotation.
The test was ran at 4 different speeds, 60, 55, 50 and 45 Hz. Four pressures were recorded at each speed. The max
pressure for each speed was found by checking the Amp draw rating for the motor and slowly bringing the pressure up
until that Amp draw was reached on the VFD. Using the max pressure for each speed, it was reduced by 25, 50 and
75%.
The package was ran for approximatly 2.5 hrs in the Power Zone Test Bay. It was tore down and moved out to the
storage area until needed.

ISSUE:
The pony rods got very hot, quickly
CORRECTIVE ACTION:
We checked the oil level in the PE and found it was low. After adding oil to the correct level the pony rods were
cooled with the oil.

SUMMARY
Testing Setup - The set up for testing was accomplished without any issues
Pre-Test Check - A bump test was run to see if everything, electrical and mechanical, were operating correctly.
Everything was satisfatory.
Testing Results - Data was collected at 4 different speeds to show where all this pump can be run. The results were
satisfatory to the Power Zone Test Bay standards.
Conclusion - The test was succesfull. Everything ran to the expected end. All tests were conducted in compliance with
all applicable standards and the test results were within the limits required by the applicable testing standards. Testing
was completed on 11 January 2018.
