MRO RUSSIA & CIS MARKET MRO INDUSTRY: DIGITALISE OR GIVE IN TO THE THREAT OF NEW DISRUPTORS Oliver Wyman global consultancy estimated growth of the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) global market from $56.3 to $81.9 billion for the last five years.

The main driver of this spectacular growth is ever-expanding commercial fleet development across the world. There are 27,500 commercial aircrafts in 2019 with potential annual increase at a rate of 3.6 percent during the coming decade. That means the average global MRO market development expected annual rate of growth is 3.5 percent. According to Oliver Wyman forecasts the MRO scope of market will reach $116 billion by 2029.

Such incredible market growth will inevitably challenge MRO service providers. Oliver Wyman has interviewed top-managers to indicate the most important factors affect MRO market. More than a half of respondents (53% and 52% respectively) mentioned increasing of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) involved in the market and world-wide lack of trained and qualified personnel.

One of the pathways to keep a company afloat in the mod-ern MRO market is increase efficiency through digitaliza-tion. Maintenance is one of the most labor-intensive ele-ments of aircraft operating procedures, but accordingly to ICF digital consultancy specialists’ analysis it is still non-digitalized.

“There are four main requirements airlines and airports should follow to respond on the modern market challenges successfully.” — Pavel Voronin, Deputy Director General of IT at S7 Airlines, insists — “Internal efficiency, competitive-ness, passengers’ demands and expectations satisfaction and effective business-model are necessary to be able to face the threat from nameless, technologically-advanced Uber-type competitors that will penetrate and disrupt the market.”

Alexey Sinitskiy, Air Transport Observer

“ It’s been a great kick off. It’s a third year we have stand here. Each year our stand is bigger and bigger because our stand visibility keeps on increasing as our business exposure. We find as to be a very good show, all our cus-tomers combined of the CIS” — Terry Stone, Satair.

“ We are greatly interested in exploring all innovation in hardware, technologies and other services affecting the MRO market. This event provides us with the possibility to touch things with our own hands” — Dmitry Zvonarev, Azimuth Airlines.

“ This is an excellent event which allows us to meet all the relevant service and prod-uct providers in a single place, instead of arranging a multiplicity of office meetings. I would recommend that the organiser implements the iPhone event application, which is able to accumulate all the neces-sary information as well as providing a sys-tem for organising the arranging of meet-ings and saving dates, like Aviation Week does” — Evgeny Kurochkin, Aeroflot.
