ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL (EDC) Good Morning!
Among several initiatives taken at various levels against the backdrop that
entrepreneurship can be taught like any other discipline, the recent and a notable
one is the establishment of the Ministry of Skill Development and
Entrepreneurship (MSDE), by the Union Government of India. The efforts will
not just develop entrepreneurial and employability skills among the youth but
will also deliver world class Learning and Management System (LMS) to equip
potential as well as early stage entrepreneurs. Besides, Government's pan India
programmes, viz. 'Startup India', 'Stand-up India', 'Make-in India', 'Digital
India', 'Swachha Bharat (Clean India)', aim at further propelling
entrepreneurship movement in India. Sculpting its mandate around the mission
of nationwide promotion of entrepreneurship, EDC aids the efforts by training
faculty members to impart learning in entrepreneurship as well as counsel
youths to adopt this discipline as a career.
Since inception in September 2014, it has been playing a vital role in mentoring
& advising young & first-time entrepreneurs. It has organized 28 motivational
introductory lectures, 14 guest lectures, 22 industrial visits, 04 workshops and
03 Entrepreneurship Awareness camp, 02 Institute visit to motivate the
students, 01 Elocution Competition and 02 Faculty Development Programme
(FDP) to develop a cadre of trained faculty members. Till date 3536 students
have been sensitized, 390 faculty members and 37 entrepreneurs have
undergone training under aegis of EDC.
Collaborating on a host of projects with renowned names in the area of
Entrepreneurship such as Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED)-
Gandhinagar, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII),
Gandhinagar, The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry
(SGCCI), Surat, The South Gujarat Productivity Council, and Surat Smart City
EDC looks at sustainability and marries form with functionality. And this
philosophy has led it to a number of recognition. We have Business
Counselling Cell supported by The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development,
Gandhinagar. Recently we’ve been awarded Nodal Centre in Information &
Communication Technology Sector (ICT) by Centre for Entrepreneurship
Development, Gandhinagar.
