Test Shots For Magazine and Poster

Including reasons for selection or de-selection.

MAGAZINE

Page 3: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for de-selection: Image is slightly blurred and there is no eye contact with the camera.

Page 4: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for possible selection: Facial expression denotes fear and eye contact is made with camera.

Page 5: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for de-selection: Paige’s hair is obstructing part of her face and therefore eye contact can not be made

easily. Head is not turned far enough towards the camera.

Page 6: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reasons for possible selection: The eye contact and facial expression are both there and her hair appears to be flicked over her shoulder as she has turned round.

Page 7: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for de-selection: Paige seems to be mid-blinking and possibly not properly prepared for the photograph

to be taken.

Page 8: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for possible selection: Taken as a wider shot meaning more of the body is shown so we can see posture. Facial expression and eye contact are both

what is wanted.

POSTER

Page 10: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for de-selection: Image is slightly blurred which is a shame because the hands are placed in a good

position and the eyes are wide.

Page 11: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for selection: Her hands are placed well over her face so they appear to have been placed there

quickly in shock/fear. Eyes are wide to show her emotions.

Page 12: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for de-selection: Although I like this photograph as the fear is obviously shown, for my poster I want eye

contact to be held with the camera from the model.

Page 13: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for de-selection: Only one hand is placed over the mouth as we wanted to see if this could look more natural than two hands however upon reflection I believe this doesn’t look as

dramatic as it needs to be. Also, the image is slightly blurred.

Page 14: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for de-selection: As experimentation I asked Paige to look down and slightly to the side as if she had heard something behind her. Again, I believe eye contact is essential for my film

poster so this is why I decided against this image.

Page 15: Poster and Magazine Test Shots

Reason for de-selection: I believe on this image, Paige’s facial expression has connotations of upset rather than fear. This is the wrong emotion to have for my genre so

I decided this wasn’t appropriate.

Conclusion

• As you can see, so far I have decided on a definite image for my film poster. However, for my magazine I am still undecided between 3 images as they are all effective and could be used. So, I will conduct some audience research over social media as a way to decide which of these 3 images to use on my film magazine.
