Food waste refers to food that is of good quality and fit
for human consumption but that does not get consumed
because it is discarded either before or after it spoils. OR
edible parts of plants and animals that are produced or
harvested for human consumption but that are not
ultimately consumed by people.
Solar Energy Availability
Local Solar Geometry and Local Solar Data
Selection of Material
Available solar energy at India & at Solapur
Relation between temperature & Moisture Content
Conclusions:-Solar drier is closed safer & more hygienic way to dry
cereals
We can reach 65o C with help of solar drier which
eliminates need of electricity
It accelerates Drying process which takes only 50%
time to dry when compared with Sun drying
It greatly reduces On farm losses which boosts the
income of farmers
Local design of Solar drier results in more efficient
equipment as compare to Standard equipments available
in market.
Abstract:-Food & Energy:- Energy can be defined as
ability to perform work. We depends upon Food for Energy.
Every Nation has its own plan for its storage and
distribution.
India is 2nd highest population and country with 24%
population below poverty which contributes worlds 33%.
According to NGO ‘BHOOK’ every single night 20crore of
Indians sleeps without food.
NEED Although in many parts of India certain crops can beproduced at certain period of year, major part of theproduce such as cereals & other crops are seasonal. Foodproduced in one harvest period lasts only for few weeks.Which must be stored for gradual consumption until nextharvest and seeds must be held for next season crops. Also the market value of any crop tends to rise during offseason. Therefore it is important to minimize losses andprepare the food for long lasting storage. The variousrequirement of processing of cereals as it covers largerpart of diet, for proper storage includes needs study ofvarious properties of grains of cereal. This study showsthat proper drying is required for longer storageperiods, the solar dryer development details are presentedin this poster
Last few years 19,40,502 MT food cereals are wasted
in India - A RTI Report.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United
Nations (FAO) estimates that 32 percent of all food
produced in the world was lost or wasted in 2009
