DESCRIPTION
Xypex is a unique chemical treatment for the waterproofing, protection and improvement of concrete. XYPEX ADMIX C-1000 is added to the concrete mix at the time of batching. Xypex Admix C-!000 consists of portland cement, very fine ~eated silica sand and various
active, proprietary chemicals. These active chemicals react with the moisture in fresh concrete and with the by-products of cement hydration to cause a catalytic reaction which generates a non-soluble crystalline formation throughout the pores and capillary tracts of the concrete. Thus the concrete beco1nes permanently sealed against the penetration of water or liquids from any direction. The concrete is also protected from deterioration due to harsh environmental conditions.
XYPEX ADMIX c-sERIES
The Admix C-Series has been specially formulated _to meet varying project and temperature conditions. Xypex Admix C-500 is specifically formulated to meet modern concrete practices that incorporate additives such as fly ash and slag. For inost concrete mix designs adding the Admix C-500 will have minimal or no effect on setting time. Xypex Admix C-1000 is designed for typical Po1tland cement-rich concrete, where normal to a mild retarded set is desired. Xypex Admix C-2000 is designed for projects where extended retardation is required due to high ambient ten1peratures or long ready-mix delivery times. See Setting Time and Strength for inore details. Consult with a Xypex Technical Representative for the n1ost appropriate Xypex Admix for your project.

PACKAGING
Xypex Admix C-1000 is packaged in 20 lb. (9.1 kg) pails, 60 lb. (27.2 kg) pails and 50 lb. (22.7 kg) bags. Admix C-1000 is also available in cartons containing 10 lb. (4.5 kg), 12 lb. (5.5 kg), and 15 lb. (6-8 kg) soluble bag..:;;. For specific projects, contact the inanufacturer for availability of custom sized packaging.
STORAGE
Xypex products must be stored dry at a minimum temperature of 45°F (7°C). Shelf life is one year wheu stored under proper conditions.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers CRO C48-73 "Perrneabilfty of
Concrete" Aviles Engineering Corp., Houston, USA
Two concrete samples cont.aining Xypex Admix at 3°'6
and 5% respectively. and an untreated control sample were tested for water permeability: Both the treated and
untreated samples were subjected to a pressure of 150 psi (350 ft waterhead). Results showed moisture and permeated water throughout the untreated sample after 24 hours. However, the Xypex Admix samples showed no leakage, and waler penetration of only 1.5 mm after J 20 hours (5 days).
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers CRO C48-73 "Perrneabifity of Concrete" Setsco Services, Pte Ltd, Singapore
Six Xypex Admix-treated and six untreated concrete samples were tested for water permeabilil): Pressure was
gradually increased over five days and then maintained at 7 bars (224 ft. waterhead) for 10 days. While the six
reference samples showed water leakage beginning on the fifth day and increasing throughout the test period, the XypexAdmix samples showed no water leakage at any time
during the test
DIN 1048 'Water lmpermeabilrty of Concrete" DlCTU S.A. Dept. Of Engineering and Construction Mgt., Santiago, Chile
Concrete samples 120 mm thick containing X ypex Admix were tested with the same size reference sa1nples
for water impenneability. Samples were subjected to hydrostatic pressure for 28 days. Water totally perme
ated the untreated samples but no water penetration was detected in any of the Xypex Admix~treated samples.
COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH ASTM C 39 "Compressive Strength of C0indrical Concrete Specimens" HBT Agra, Vancouver, Canada
Concrete samples containing Xypex Admix at various dosage rates (1 %, 2% and 5%) were tested against an
unrreated concrete control sample. Compressive strength
test results after 28 days indicated a significant strength increase in the samples incorporating Xypex Admix. The compressive strength increase varied between 5°,t, and
20% (depending on the Xypex Admix dosage rate) over
that of the reference sainple.
ASTM C 39 "Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens" Kleinfelder Laboratories, San Francisco, USA
At 28 days, the compressive strength test of the concrete containing Xypex Admix measured 7160 psi as compared
to the reference sample at 6460 psi (a 10% increase).

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE J!S "Chemical Durability Test" Japanese Lhility Company, Jn-house Test Report, Tokyo, Japan
Concrete samples containing Xypex Admix were tested
against five samples containing other adnrixtures and
against a control sample, to determine resistance to corro
sion and deterioration ca.used by contact with aggressive
chemicals. All samples \Vere soaked in a 5% sulfuric acid
solution at 20°C for six months. Various evaluations and
measurements were assessed every month during the test period, including: photographic comparisons, relative dynamic modulus of elasticity, percentage change in
length, weight and flexural rigidity. Although the Xypex
Admix sample was subjected to acid conditions \Veil
outside its published range, the results confirmed Xypex
with the best performance among the seven samples tested.

Concrete samples containing Xypex Admix at different dosage rates (3%, 5°i6 and 7%) were tested against untreated control sa1nples for Sulfuric acid resistance. After immer
sion in the Sulfuric acid, each sample was tested for weight loss on a daily basis until a weight loss of 50% or a definite response tr~nd was obtained. The percentage weight loss of the samples containing Xypex Admix
tested significantly lower than the conn·ol samples.

X ypex Admix-treated concrete sainples were imlnersed in an ammonium-sulphate solution and tested for
"resistance in a harsh environment". The performance of
the Xypex-Crystalline-Technology was compared with five other concretes, including one containing a sulphate
resistant cement. Each of the test samples was cured for
seven days and then placed in an ammonium-sulphate
solution (132 &'ll for 180 days. The rate of corrosion
was determined by measuring weight loss, and length
change was noted on a weekly basis. The Xypex
Crystalline-Technology substantially improved concrete perfonnance as compared to the reference concrete and
tested very similar to the sulphate-resistant concrete. The
Xypex Admix-treated samples also provided the highest
level of protection as measured by change in length.

After 300 freeze/thaw cycles, the Xypex Admix-treated
samples indicated 94% relative durability.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Xypex Admix C-1000 must be added to the concrete at the time of batching. The sequence of procedures for addition will vary according to the type of batch plant
operation and equipment:
I. READY MIX PLANT - DRY BATCH OPERATION Add
Xypex Admix in powder form to the drum of the
ready-mix truck. Drive the ready-1nix truck under the batch plant and add the balance of the materials in accordance 'With standard concrete batching practices. Mix materials for a minimum of 5 minutes to ensure that the Xypex Admix has been thoroughly dispersed throughout the concrete.
2. READY MIX PLANT - CENTRAL MIX OPERATION Mix
Xypex Admix 'With water to form a very thin slurry
(e.g. 15 - 20 lbl6.75 - 9 kg of powder mixed with 3 gallons/13.6 litres of water). Pour the required amount of material into the drum or the ready-mix truck. The aggregate, cement and water should be batched and mixed
in the plant in accordance with standard practices (taking into account the quantity of water that has already been placed in the ready-mix truck). Pour the concrete into the
truck and mix for at least 5 minutes to ensure even
distribution or the Xypex Admix throughout the concrete.
3. PRECAST BATCH PIANT Add Xypex Admix to the rock
and sand, then mix thoroughly for 2 - 3 1ninutes before
adding the cement and water. The total concrete mass
should be blended using standard practices.
Notes: 1. It is important to obtain a ho1nogeneous 1nixture of
Xypex Admix with the concrete. Therefore, do not add
dry Admix powder directly to wet concrete as this may cause clumping and thorough dispersion will not occur.
2. Concrete containing the Xypex Admix does not preclude the requirement for design of crack control,
consrruction joint detailing and measures for repairing
defects in concrete (i.e. honeycombing, tie holes, cracks
beyond specified limits).
For further information regarding the proper use of Xypex Admix for a specific project, consult with a Xypex
Technical Representative.
SETTING TIME AND STRENGTH
The setting time of concrete is affected by the chemical and
physical composition of ingredients, temperature of the
concrete and climatic conditions. Xypex Admix C-1000 is
designed for typical Portland cement-rich concrete, where
normal to a mild retarded set is desired. Concrete contain
ing the Xypex Admix C-1000 may develop higher ultimate srrengths than plain concrete. Trial mixes should be carried out under project conditions to determine the setting time
and strength or the concrete dosed with Xypex Admix C-1000. Consult with a Xypex Technical Representative
for the most appropriate Xypex Admix for your project.
LIMITATIONS
\Vhen incorporating Xypex Admix, the temperature
of the concrete mix should be above 40"F ( 4°C).

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
Xypex is alkaline. As a cementitious powder or mixture, Xypex may cause significant skin and eye irritation.
Directions for treating these problems are clearly detailed on all Xypex pails and packaging. The Manufacturer also
maintains .comprehensive and up-to-date Material Safety
Data Sheets on all its products. Each sheet contains health and safety information for the protection of \VOrkers and customers. The Manufacturer recommends
you contact Xypex Chemical Corporation or your local
Xypex representative to obtain copies or Material Safety
Data Sheets prior to product storage or use.

The Manufacturer warrants that the products manufactured by it shall be free from material defects and will be consistent with its normal high quality. Should any of
the products be proven defective, the liability to the
Manufacrurer shall be limited to replacement of the product
ex factory: The Manufacturer nukes no warranty as to
merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose and
this warranty is in Heu of all other warranties expressed
or implied. The user shall determine the suitability of the product for his intended use and assume all risks and
liability in connection therewith.

contamination of the joint sealant by any foreign material such as silt or mud during the installation process. In hot weather, the material tends to soften; dipping sealant strips in cool water will allow easier release of the paper. Conversely, in cool weather, the material stiffens; dipping strips in warm water or storing in a warm area prior to use will aid in paper release.
Application Concrete surfaces to which the sealant is to be applied must be clean and dry. All mud, dirt, grease, oil, and loose particles should be removed from the surfaces. The release paper should be stripped from only one side of sealant. The outside paper should be left in place to protect the sealant from contamination and stretching. The sealant strips should be attached end to end to the leading edge of the tongue or groove of each pipe joint until a continuous gasket is established around the entire circumference of the pipe joint. The material should be pressed firmly into place through the outside release paper. The

outside paper should be removed just prior to jointing the pipe. Contaminating the exposed sealant with any foreign materials should be strictly avoided. Care should be taken not to disturb the gasket placement. Any contaminated sealant should be removed and replaced and any displaced strips should be repositioned prior to jointing the pipes. See pipe manufacturer's instructions for proper pipe jointing procedures. Excess sealant may be either trimmed with a putty knife or rolled to a smooth finish. The trench can be backfilled as soon as the joining process has been completed.
Clean-up Excess sealant should be scraped off surfaces. Asphalt stains can be removed with non-hazardous, bio-degradable cleaners. Waterless hand cleaner should be used on skin, following the cleaner manufacturer's instructions carefully. Flammable or combustible petroleum based solvents should not be used.

This specification covers the requirements for Poly(Vinyl Chloride PVC) gravity sewer pipes with integral bell and spigot gasketedjoints. Nominal sizes 4" 6' 8" 10", 12" & 15" are manufactured to meet requirements of American Society for Testmg and Materials standard ASTM D-3034, Standard Specification for Type PSM Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Sewer Pipe. Nominal sizes 18", 21" 24", 27" and 30" comply with ASTM F-679, Standard Specification/or Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Large Diameter Plastic Gravity Sewer Pipe.
MATERIALS
Pipe is manufactured from PVC compound meeting the requirements of cell class 12454-B as defined by ASTM D-1784, Standard Specification/or Rigid Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Compounds. These materials are classified as type T-1 in ASTM F-679.
PIPE
Pipes are manufactured for use in gravity flow applications, such as sanitary sewer lines. These pipes are produced with wall thickness corresponding to dimension ratio SDR-35, with pipe stiffness value of 46 psi when tested in accord with ASTM D-2412, Standard Test Method for Determination of External Loading of Plastic Pipe by Parallel Plate Loading. Standard laying length is 13 feet. ·
JOINTS
The Pipe utilizes a "locked in" integral gasket joint design meeting the requirements of ASTM D-3212, Standard Specification for Joints for Drain and Sewer Pipes Using Flexible Elastomeric Seals. The gaskets are reinforced with a steel band and conform to the requirements of ASTM F-477, Standard Specification for Elastomeric Seals (Gaskets) for Joining Plastic Pipes.

SDR35 D 3034 / PS46 F 679 FITTING SPECIFICATIONS
1.0 GPK PVC Sewer Fittings shall be manufactured in accordance with either ASTM D 3034, F1336 or F 679. The PVC material shall have a minimum cell classification of 12454, 13343 or 12364 as defined in ASTM D 1784.
2.0 The purpose of GPK in-line fittings is to convey municipal sanitary and industrial wastes, storm water runoff and many other related applications. They are designed to be used in gravity flow and low pressure applications not to exceed 10.8 psi. (74.5 kPa).
3.0 Injection Molded Fittings are produced in sizes 4" (lOOmm) through 12" {300mm) diameter. Fabricated Fittings are produced in sizes 4" {lOOmm) through 36" {973mm) diameter. A fabricated fitting is considered any fitting made from pipe or a combination of pipe and molded components.
4.0 Chemical Resistance GPK fittings resist attack from certain alcohols, alkalies, salt solutions, acids and other types of chemicals. Refer to chemical resistant chart for suitability.
5.0 Marking. GPK fittings shall be marked with applicable size, "PVC", company name or logo, PSM and the ASTM specification number {D 3034, F 1336 or F679). The fittings and/or packaging shall include the manufacturer's date and shift code.
6.0 Testing. A test after installation of either low pressure air {Uni-B-6) or a water infiltration-exfiltration test is recommended.
7.0 Deflection Test. The maximum allowable pipe fitting deflection should be 7 Y,% of base ID as shown in table Xl.1 of D 3034, and X2.1 of F 679.
8.0 Backfilling and Tamping. Backfilling should follow closely after assembly of pipe and fittings.
8.1 Backfilling. with proper material is important to achieve desired density in haunching area which enables pipe, fitting and soil to work together to meet designed load requirements. This eliminates excess deflection and shear breaks due to heavy loads. Approved material shall be used properly, compacted continuously above and around the pipe and fittings as well as between fitting and trench wall. A cushion of approved material up to a minimum of 12" {305mm) over the fittings and between the trench walls shall be applied in accordance with the engineers' specifications.
8.2 Tamping. This shall be done by hand tamping of the embedment material between the trench wall of the service line fitting and riser connection. Tamping can also be done by mechanical tampers or by using water to consolidate the embedment material. Extreme unstable ground conditions may require wider trenches to enable you to compact a larger area around the pipe and fittings to the density consistent of the original ground surface conditions.
9.0 Service Lines. Normally, service lines from the property line to the collection sewer should be a minimum depth of 3 feet (1 meter) at the property line and should be laid in straight alignment and uniform slope of not less than Y." per foot (20.8mm/meter) for 4" (lOOmm) nominal pipe and 1/8" {10.4mm/meter) per foot for 6" (150mm) pipe. Where collection sewers are deeper than 7 feet (2 meters) a vertical standpipe or stack is permitted but not recommended, consult the project engineer for proper installation details. Deep sewer chimney and risers necessitate extreme care during backfilling. Where surface loading is anticipated the final backfill must be compacted to a density compatible with those surface loads to be encountered.

Backfilling around pipe service laterals on slope. Extra attention should be given on slopes to prevent the newly backfilled trench from becoming a "French Drain". Before backfilling completely there is a tendency for ground and surface water to follow the direction of the looser soil. This flow may wash out soil from under or around pipe and branch line fittings, reducing or eliminating the support needed. To avoid this problem the backfilling should be of greater compaction. Tamping should be done in 4" (lOOmm) layers and continued in this manner all the way up to the ground or surface line of the trench. Concrete collars or other concrete poured around the fitting to stabilize unwanted movement is recommended to prevent water from undercutting the underside of the pipe and fittings.
Due to various ground conditions and different situations, installation techniques vary widely. We warranty our products to be free of manufacturer's defects. We will not replace the products that are installed or used incorrectly. The design of the systems that our product is used in is a factor that cannot be overlooked.

Fabricated fittings are manufactured from PVC pipe and molded components meeting the requirements of either ASTM D 3034, F 1336 or F 679 for workmanship, extrusion quality, stiffness, impact resistance, dimensions and structural performance.
Extruded pipe components are made from PVC material with a minimum cell classification of 12454, 13343 or 12364 as defined in ASTM 01784.
Injection molded fittings are made from PVC material with a minimum cell classification of 12454 or 13343 as defined in ASTM D 1784.
Extrusion Quality: Extruded components are tested in accordance with and meet the requirements of ASTM D 2152 for properly fused PVC.
Impact Resistance: Extruded Components are tested in accordance with ASTM D 2444 using a 20 lb (9.07kg). Tup A and a Flat Plate Holder B. The strength shall equal or exceed the values shown below:

Extruded components are flattened as described in ASTM D 3034 and F 679 until the distance between the plates is 40% of the outside diameter of the pipe. There shall be no splitting, cracking or breaking.
Pressure/Pressure Deflection: Gasketed joints are tested in accordance with ASTM D 3212. Pressure: 10 minutes@ 10.8 psi (74.5 kPa) + 10 minutes deflected @ 10.8 psi (74.5 kPa). Vacuum: 10 minutes @ 22 in. Hg (74 kPa) + 10 minutes deflected @ 22 in. Hg (74kPa).
Branch Bending: The chemically fused areas around the fabricated branches of tee, wye and tee-wye fittings are tested to ASTM F 1336 to verify their strength and integrity.
Pipe Stop Support: Tee and tee-wye fittings are tested to requirements of ASTM F 1336 for pipe stop load support. No cracking or splitting shall occur and pipe spigot shall not protrude into waterway of the fitting.

Solvent cement is handled and tested in accordance with ASTM D 2564 and D 2855. The Lap Shear Strength shall equal or exceed 900 psi (6205 kPa) @ 72 hours.
Heat Fusion Welded Joints (Butt Fusion Welds)
Elastomeric Seals (Gaskets) Must meet all requirements of ASTM F 477 and D 3212.
Injection Molded saddle tees and saddle wyes shall have skirts with a minimum of 80 square inches (516 square cm) surface area which can be bonded to pipe.
Fabricated saddle tees and saddle wyes shall have skirts with a minimum of 160 square inches (1032 square cm) surface area which can be bonded to pipe.
The worm drive saddle straps used to fasten the saddles are manufactured with corrosion resistant 300 series AISI stainless steel.
GPK does not recommend gasket skirts where air tests are required.

SOR 35 GASKETED SEWER FITTINGS LETTER OF COMPLIANCE
Scope: This letter of compliance covers Multi Fittings requirements for 4" through 42" (100 mm - 1050 mm) PVC Trench Tough SDR35 Gasketed Sewer Fittings. These products meet or exceed performance standards set by the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), CSA International (CSA) and the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO).
Trench Tough SDR35 Gasketed Sewer Fittings are compatible with pipe manufactured to ASTM D 3034, CSA B 182.1 and CSA B 182.2 and is suitable for the non-pressure drainage of sewage and surface water. They can also be used in applications involving subsurface drainage.
Material: Rigid PVC Poly(Vinyl Chloride) used in the manufacturing of Trench Tough SDR35 Gasketed Sewer Fittings complies with ASTM D 1784, Standard Specification for Rigid Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Compounds and Chlorinated Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (CPVC) Compounds, having a cell classification 12454 or 13343. Gasket materials used in the manufacturing of Trench Tough SDR35 Gasketed Sewer Fittings complies with either of the following requirements: ASTM F 477 "Standard Specification for Elastomeric Seals (Gaskets) for Joining Plastic Pipe" for low-head applications for rubber gaskets ASTM F 913 "Standard Specification for Thermoplastic Elastomeric Seals (Gaskets) for Joining Plastic Pipe" for TPE gaskets

Short Fo~cification
SCOPE
This specification covers the requirements for Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) water distribution pipes ith integral bell and spigot gasketed joints in Cast Iron Outside Diameter (CIOD) nominal size ·4 6' t 8 '. 10 ' and 12''. These pipes meet the requirements of American Water Works Association standard ANSI/A WWA C-900.
MATERIALS
Pipe is manufactured from virgin PVC compound meeting the requirements of cell class 12454-B as defined by ASTM D-1784, Standard Specification for Rigid Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Compounds. These compounds have a hydrostatic design basis rating of 4,000 psi for water at 73 .4 °F. The compound is certified by NSF International to ANSI/NSF Standard 61.
PIPE
Pipes are manufactured to the ~n Outside Diameter nominal size series for use as a pressure conduit. The DR-14,~and DR-25 wall thickness class pipes are rated as Pressure Class 200, 150 and 100 respectively. Pressure Classes refer to working pressure ratings in water service at 73.4°F, which provide a 2 foot per second surge allowance with a 2.5:1 long term hydrostatic design safety factor. The pipe utilizes a "locked in" integral gasket joint design meeting the requirements of ASTM D-3139, Standard Specification for Joints/or Plastic Pressure Pipes Using Flexible Elastomeric Seals. The gaskets are reinforced with a steel band and conform to the requirements of ASTM F-477, Standard Specification for Elastomeric Seals (Gaskets) for Joining Plastic Pipes. Pressure Class 150 (DR-18) and Pressure Class 200 (DR-14) pipes are listed with Underwriters Laboratories and Factory Mutual for use in fire protection service.
MARKING
Pipe markings are as specified in ANSI/A WWA C-900.
TEST REQUIREMENTS
Quality assurance testing is as required by ANSI/ A WW A C-900. As part of that testing, each length of pipe, including the integral bell, is hydrostatic pressure tested as four times the pressure class rating of the pipe for a minimum dwell period of five (5) seconds.

INFORMATION
PVC Restrainers for restraining pipe and PVC pipe bell joints. These restraints work in any type of soil for a guaranteed joint restraint with the full rated pressure of the PVC pipe on which it is installed.
PVC restrainers can be installed on new or existing systems, totally eliminating the use of thrust blocks. These restrainers have internal serrations that lock onto the pipe and give 360° contact and support the pipe wall. Restraint devices may be used with any type of PVC piping system.

PVC restraint devices shall be manufactured of high strength ductile iron in accordance to ASTM A536 Grade 65-45-12 for all sizes. Internal serrations will be machined to provide exact tolerances to provide 360° contact and support of the pipe waif. PVC Restraint devices shall have a pressure rating of 2: 1 (i.e. twice the pressure rating of the PVC pipe on which it is used}. Serrated Rings shall be used to grip the pipe and be capable of being installed bidirectional.

Ford Saddles are cast from certified 85-5-5-5 waterworks brass and machined to rigid specifications. Their ample width and preformed radius provide greater distribution of clamping pressures to avoid crushing the pipe.
Design "A" (hinged) saddles install as a single unit with no loose parts to lose in the ditch. (Designs may vary - see below.) The upper and lower castings are permanently hinged together with silicon bronze pin and the silicon bronze bolt has a retainer on it to prevent loss during shipment and installation. The retainer tag identifies the tap style and size. The lower casting is tapped to accept the bolt so that nuts are not required. PVC pipe may expand under high pressure causing damage to over-tightened saddles. BSP, British Standard Pipe, threads are available by request.
Ford's convenient marking system quickly and easily identifies the type of thread in the boss. For AWW A tapered thread the top edge of the boss has a machined groove around the top outside edge while the boss for iron pipe thread is smooth.

OUTDOOR INSTALLATION
The Double Check Detector Backflow Prevention Assembly shall be ASSE® Listed 1048, and supplied with full port gate valves. The main body and access cover shall be epoxy coated ductile iron (ASTM A 536 Grade 4), the seat ring and check valve shall be Noryl™ (NSF Listed), the stem shall be stainless steel (ASTM A 276) and the seat disc elastomers shall be EPDM.
