    INTRODUCTION

More and more farmers turn to commercial broiler/layer farming for numerous reasons.

These include earning an income, the relatiely lo! cost of setting u" a broiler "oultryfarm, the small area you re#uire for $ee"ing "oultry and also for a food source for their

    families.

The information !e share in this hand boo$ is the result of interie!s !ith o!ner of

commercial farmers and small scale "roducers in Uganda. The farmers !e interact !ith

had similar challenges !e found amongst other factors that brooding and rearing

must be used as a reference guide. This hand boo$ does not contain a guarantee of

"erformance in any!ay and must be seen as guidelines to "roduce #uality

&e !ere ins"ired by the !ay commercial farmers handled "roblems on their farming

method, their determination for success and the !ill to team more about "oultry farming

and modern technology in the industry.

&e ho"e this boo$let !ill hel" our farmers get better results in the future and also to

hel" ma$e "oultry farming a more "rofitable business.

(no!ledge of rearing broilers and layers, housing condition, e#ui"ment and

management techni#ues are im"ortant. This boo$let !ill gie some guideline for their

successful "roduction of #uality broilers, rearing of layers and good egg "roduction.
