Welcome to Pousadas Land!
-It has all began in 1942 with Mr. António Ferro, at the time manager for nationaladvertisement in Portugal;
- The major goal was « to accommodate travellers and provide them nourishmentaccording to each region traditions and values »
-Elvas, in Alentejo, was the place for the first big opening;
- From the 50’s on, we began to find another type of Pousadas, the so calledHistoric ones;
-Latter on the 70’s, was created ENATUR (National Tourism Enterprise), a publiccompany that became responsible for the network management, combiningdifferent areas such as finances, marketing and commercial department.
- On September 1st 2003, and following the privatizing process, the Pestana Groupstarted to explore the entire Pousadas net;
- Being a highlight in hotel management matter, Pestana Group brought to Pousadasthe experience needed to achieve future successes;
- According to the exclusivity contract signed by the group, from that moment onPestana was the only one in charge to manage and exploit Pousadas de Portugal;
- Nevertheless, it was established on that same contract, an expansion plan for the network , that in case of accomplishment allowed to add another 5 years to the initial agreement contract, signed for 15 years.
Nowadays, Pousadas have more than 40 destinations for you to
