World Poverty

What is world poverty

Everyone has the right to work, to just and favorable conditions of work and to protection for himself and his family [and] an existence worthy of human dignity … Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well being of himself and his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care

This is a quote by the United Nations.

— Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948

World Poverty

These children are in poverty. They look like they’ve been eating a lot but that is not true. It is a disease that children have when they don’t eat.

Hunger & World Poverty

About 25,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes, according to the United Nations.

Yet there is plenty of food in the world for everyone. The problem is that hungry people are trapped in severe poverty.

People who are trapped in the dangerous cycle of poverty can’t afford to buy the basic things to live when we all think it is very cheap. Because of no money the poor people are becoming sick and immediately dying

When these people are getting sick they don’t have the ability to work and hence they get even much poorer than before

Statistics

Almost half the world — over 3 billion people live on less than $2.50 a day.

640 million live without adequate shelter 400 million have no access to safe water 270 million have no access to health services
