Caterpillar power plants will help you get a high, predictable return on your investment by supplying experience to your team. You focus on your core business. We take care of your power.
The more you rely on us, the better you can forecast:
• Plant’s output and availability
• Operating costs
• Cash flow
• Profits
During a project’s planning stages, an operation and maintenance plan that documents fi nancial performance can help you attract investment capital. Over the plant’s life, expert support will help you meet your profi t objectives, year after year. We will give you a seamless transition from construction through start-up and into commercial power production. Once your plant is online, we provide the level of support you require.
Caterpillar power plants offer four basic Power Plant Service packages. You can pick the plan that best fi ts your needs or we can customize any package by adding or adjusting services.
Operation and Maintenance Agreement (O&M)
We take complete responsibility for managing your asset. Our staff handles all aspects of operation, maintenance and administration. We work with you to establish and meet specifi c goals for performance and return on investment.
PRODUCT SUPPORT
IT’S A MAJOR ASSET. MANAGE IT FOR PROFIT.
13
Maintenance and Repair Agreement (MRA)
Our technicians perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and regular analysis of critical engine fl uids. You also receive technical support and staff training, plus all replacement parts.
Maintenance Service Agreement (MSA)
We provide technical support, staff training and assistance with maintenance and troubleshooting, in addition to the parts required for regular maintenance.
Technical Service Agreement (TSA)
We provide an experienced engineer to train your staff to improve maintenance techniques and troubleshoot plant equipment.

Asset Management
We will establish appropriate plant staffi ng levels, select and train personnel, prescribe operating practices, and implement maintenance techniques that push reliability and availability up while driving costs down. Operation plans are designed specifi cally to maximize your returns.
Parts Management
Replacement parts account for 40 to 60 percent of your plant’s operation and maintenance costs. We will help manage parts inventory to keep your costs down, while making sure that parts are always on hand when you need them. Caterpillar has 23 parts distribution centers in eleven countries around the globe. Genuine Cat parts are readily available around the world for fast shipment, usually in less than 48 hours.
PRODUCT SUPPORT
WE SUPPORT YOU IN FOUR WAYS:
15
Technical Support
Who better to support your generating equipment than the company that designed and built it? Our technical support personnel continuously add value by fi ne-tuning service intervals; providing quick and accurate troubleshooting; and applying new component designs, electronic controls and diagnostic tools that increase service life and minimize labor costs. We also assist with day-to-day decisions that have big cost implications – like whether to reuse a crankshaft, piston or other key component at overhaul.
Local Presence
With nearly 200 Cat dealers and 1,500 facilities worldwide serving in excess of 200 countries, you’re never far from the Caterpillar support you need.

TRAININGTRAINING
On-Site Training
Instructor led courses held at the customers location, provide training on the specifi c components or systems within the power plant. These courses include a classroom segment which provides the basic theory of operation and are followed up with facility walkdowns to better illustrate the concepts discussed in the classroom. Some courses, such as thermal oil systems, lube oil and fuel separator training, include detailed operator hands-on operational instruction. Some courses, such as Diesel engine theory and Balance of Plant systems, provide an overview of the systems or equipment being discussed but do not provide hands-on instruction during the facility walkdowns.
Factory Training
Instructor led courses held at the OEM factory locations, provide training on the various pieces of equipment selected and include practical hands-on exercises in a controlled lab atmosphere. In some instances, the equipment worked on in the lab will not exactly match the equipment found at the site but rather cover component operation and functions in general terms.
On-the-Job Training (OJT):
A term contract, whereby we will place a consultant at the customers power plant for a period specifi ed in the contract, to support and supervise the customers mechanical and electrical staff with the normal day-to-day maintenance and service activities. The person placed at site will utilize their knowledge and experience to training the customer staff in the proper techniques and processes, necessary to accomplish the tasks in a safe and effi cient manner.
Continued Education
These are courses intended to offer cross-training options for customers. Courses that will help mechanical technicians gain knowledge about electrical equipment, or electricians gain knowledge about mechanical equipment.
