Monochromatic
• Uses a single hue• Value and/or intensity• Accents of neutrals• Rooms appear larger
Analogous
• Related hues• Hues that are next to
each other• 3-5 hues are used
Split-Complementary
• One hue with two hues adjacent to its complement
Dominant color
Contrasting colors
Complementary
• Using two colors directly opposite each other
• Bright and dramatic• Best if contrast is
lessened
Double-Complementary
• Two colors and their complements
• Four colors are used
Triadic
• 3 colors equally distant from each other
Assignment
1. In groups of three (I will assign) choose who is going to illustrate which color harmonies.
2. Each person should complete two illustrations. *All color harmonies need to be represented.
3. Do not write which color harmony your illustration is representing.
4. When all illustrations are completed, another group will be assessing your assignment.
