Inventor(s) Expertise Peter J. Lammers Algal Bioenergy Program, NMSU N. Khandan Civil Engineering Department, NMSU Dr. Shuguang Deng Department of Chemical Engineering, NMSU
Overview: POWER is a scalable energy-positive photosynthetic bio-refinery (PSBR) system that utilizes wastewater and sunlight to cultivate algae biomass and produce bioenergy and fertilizers.
Novelties:POWER integrates emerging technologies to remove organics and nutrients in municipal wastewaters with concomitant production of energy and fertilizers.
Features:• Sustainable municipal wastewater treatment with reduced energy consumption and carbon footprint. • Recycle and recovery of valuable nutrients essential for algal growth, such as carbon, nitrogen and phosphorous that would otherwise be dissipated into environment.
Potential Applications:• Municipal sewage treatment facilities • Commercial dairies • Feedlots • Swine and poultry production centers • Food processing and aquaculture facilities
Property of Arrowhead Center. Do not duplicate/distribute.
