DEEP DIVE VR™ is the world’s first self-contained, underwater virtual reality experience. The system is redefining immersive digital entertainment, allowing your mind to explore, while your body feels the extraordinary full sensory experience of underwater travel.
Have you ever wanted to swim with whale sharks in the Gulf of Mexico or humpback whales in Hawaii? Or snorkel a pristine vibrant reef? Or explore the ocean deep to see the largest creatures on our planet? DEEP DIVE will take you there!
The DEEP DIVE VR experience combines incredible virtual reality content, a state-of-the-art waterproof VR headset (mask / VR screen), snorkel, and innovative in-water sensory elements. In the self-contained body of water, each participant comfortably lies prone directly behind a highly controllable DC-powered thruster. The thruster produces varying laminar flows of water, along with pulses and injected air bubbles that pass over the participant’s body. These unexpected sensations are precisely queued to underwater events, timed in perfect concert with the visual content.
A typical, start-to-finish, 10-minute experience consists of the following:
• After signing a waiver and watching a short video orientation, participants receive a snorkel and flotation belt with safety lanyard.
• From the outdoor Launch Platform each participant is directed to a designated station within a shallow body of water (approximately 3 feet (.9 m) deep). Guests enter the water via a ladder, and walk to their station.
• At the station the participant is fitted with a headset and snorkel. A staff member begins the synchronized content by tapping an NFC card to the front of the headset. The participant then grasps the two handles located on the thruster in front of them. The participant’s body will naturally float into a comfortable prone position, aided by the flotation belt.
• The experience begins! The participant is transported into a stunning virtual reality world. In every direction the guest turns their head, they see a different view of the 3D underwater world.
• Sensory thrusters further enhance the visual experience. Streams and pulses of water at varying speeds, along with air bubbles fed into the thruster stream and coming up from the floor, pass over the participant’s body, timed in perfect unison with the visual content.
• At the end of the experience, guests are instructed to stand up, remove the headset and unclip the safety lanyard. The participant exits the water and the next guest takes their turn.
• Snorkels are placed into a bin for sanitizing and later re-use.
