Honda
Odyssey
A benchmark in the automotive industry, the Odysseyis a tribute to Honda ingenuity. Its innovative designand class-leading safety are just part of whatmakes this minivan an original. The engine ispowerful and fuel-effıcient.* The Odysseyoffers advanced technology in comfort andversatility. It’s big enough tocomfortably seat seven. Itsfırst-of-its-kind Magic Seat,™
dual sliding doors and removable second-row seats are uniquely user-friendly. While a host of amenitiesand an available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™
set the Odyssey apart from all the rest. And, like no other mini-van, it’s able to deliver Honda reliability, durability and quality.
Take a vacation from the ordinary.
The Odyssey.
Odyssey EX shown in Mesa Beige Metallic.
Two ways to plan your getaway.
ODYSSEY LX: The LX offers a 210-horsepower,† 24-valve, VTEC™
V-6 engine that meets the Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) standard for
light trucks. A quadruple 5-star safety rating with dual front airbags
(SRS), 3-point seat belts and head restraints at all seating positions.
Independent front and rear suspension, Traction Control System
(TCS) and an anti-lock braking system (ABS). Dual sliding doors,
an AM/FM stereo cassette with four speakers, front and rear air
conditioning, an Immobilizer Theft-Deterrent System, cruise control
and power windows, mirrors and door locks.
ODYSSEY EX: There’s even more to enjoy in the EX. Like dual power
sliding doors, a driver’s seat with 8-way power adjustment, the
available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System, the HomeLink®
remote system,** a security system with remote entry, an integrated
AM/FM stereo CD player with 6 speakers, automatic climate control,
steering wheel-mounted audio controls, alloy wheels, roof rails and
body-colored body side molding, mirrors and door handles.

Get away from it all, or bring it all along.Elbow room would be an understatement.
Odyssey EX shown in Mesa Beige Metallic.
The minivan has come a long way. Still, it
would be difficult to match the level of
ingenuity and convenience in an Odyssey.
For one thing, no other minivan offers you
instructions on how to get
you where you’re going.
The Honda Satellite-
Linked Navigation System,
available on the EX, uses global position-
ing satellites to pinpoint your location in
many parts of the U.S. The system can give
you“turn-by-turn” directions, through both
visual and voice guidance, to the many
places stored in its DVD-based memory
bank. Such as gas stations, airports, hotels,
restaurants, theaters and ATM machines in
metropolitan areas it covers.‡ In addition,
the system can direct you
to most residential and
business addresses, and
calculate the most efficient
route to take. Your destination either can
be selected from a simple “Yellow Pages”-
style directory or can be entered directly
on the touch-screen. Chances are, you’ll
wonder how you ever lived without one.
‡Only major streets, roads and highways are mapped outside these areas. See the vehicle’s navigation system owner’s manual for the current detailed coverage areas.

The Magic Seat folds and swings
back, disappearing into the deep
cargo well where it lies flush
with the cargo area floor. So you
can load up for a trip and still
have the seat along, just in case.
Odyssey LX shown in Dark Emerald Pearl.
When the third-row Magic Seat
isn’t being stored in the deep
cargo well, there’s a lot of room
behind the seat, 38.1 cubic feet to
be exact, for things like groceries.
With all the seats in, there’s room
for seven to relax in comfort. Slide
the removable second-row bucket
seats together to make a bench
seat or retract the third-row Magic
Seat for more cargo space.
The Odyssey presents you with real choices in mixing passengers and cargo. Even when
filled with a week’s luggage, or after a long day of shopping, the Odyssey comes across as a
true passenger’s vehicle. Seatbacks are adjustable. The EX model even has an 8-way power
adjustable driver’s seat for the ultimate in comfort. You’ll find legroom and headroom to
spare. For convenience, there are nine beverage holders, storage pockets, covered bins, even
a holder especially for your sunglasses. Front- and second-row seats can be moved forward
and back, and have fold-down armrests. Ergonomically speaking, the Odyssey is superior,
too. Gauges and controls are easy to read and reach. A sliding sun visor helps control glare
from outside. While inside, you can enjoy your favorite music on an AM/FM stereo cassette.
In the EX model you get a CD player with six speakers and audio controls that are mounted
on the steering wheel for easy access. You’ll even find 12-volt outlets and an Immobilizer
Theft-Deterrent System. As if all this weren’t enough, the Honda Odyssey has theater-style
seating to offer everyone a commanding view inside and out. So you won’t miss a thing.
The Odyssey was designed to
keep everyone happy. That’s why
all three rows have individual
map lights and adjustable air-
conditioning vents. The EX also
has automatic climate control.
The innovative retractable center
tray table between the front seats
can carry four beverages. There’s
also a sliding extension feature
that makes it easy for passengers
in the second row to use it too.
The HomeLink® remote system,
standard on the EX, lets you open
a garage door without a separate
opener. It can also activate two
other remote features, like a gate
and a lighting system.
The standard dual power sliding
doors on the EX make loading
and unloading a snap. With the
remote entry system, you can
open and close them from up
to 50 feet away. A feature you
will come to really appreciate.
Honda is, fırst and foremost, an engine-building company, driven by technical innovations and engineering excellence. As a result, we’ve raised the minivan standard by producing a vehicle that exceeds expectations in every aspect. Thegoal was to design one that would drive like a car, offeringsuperior performance and maneuverability, improved fuel
economy*and lower emissions. It would incorporate a highlevel of safety, be extremely versatile, and provide maximumcomfort for its driver and passengers. We succeeded inreaching our goal with forward thinking and cutting-edgetechnology while never forgetting the attributes we’ve builtour reputation on. Honda reliability, durability and quality.
At Honda, innovative engineering is a time-honored tradition. You can see it everywhere in
the Odyssey, where a legacy of advanced technology and safety features combine
to make it the segment-leading, versatile minivan you’ll want to take home with you.
The Odyssey’s standard Traction
Control System (TCS) enhances
traction and stability by using the
anti-lock brakes to automatically
reduce wheel spin when starting
off or driving on a slippery surface.
A 4-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS)
with load-balancing Electronic Brake
Distribution (EBD) helps you retain steering
control even when maximum braking
pressure is being applied.
Variable valve timing and lift
electronic control (VTEC) allows
Odyssey’s V-6 engine to produce
strong low-end torque and smooth
power at all engine speeds. ICE

The Odyssey brings Honda ingenuity to the minivan. Its 3.5 liter, 24-valve V-6 delivers 210 horse-
power† with the kind of fuel efficiency* and dependability that are unique to Honda vehicles.
Odyssey’s engine is made more responsive and fun to drive by VTEC (variable valve timing and
lift electronic control) technology for impressive low-end torque and high-rpm power, a 4-valve-
per-cylinder layout and PGM-FI fuel injection. In fact, over 90% of its torque is available at just
2000 rpm, and it meets California’s stringent Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) standard for light
trucks. And the first tune-up is not due for 105,000 miles.‡ The 4-speed automatic transmission
uses the Grade Logic Control System to sense when the Odyssey is on an incline, then adjusts
the shift points to avoid that “searching up and down” feeling. A front stabilizer bar helps
reduce body roll during cornering, a 4-wheel independent suspension helps to smooth out the
ride, and electronically controlled engine mounts help to reduce vibration in the cabin.Take a boat or travel trailer with you
on your next trip. The Odyssey will
tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds††
when properly equipped.
Odyssey’s four-wheel independent
suspension (front strut/rear double
wishbone) helps provide a smooth
ride, refined handling and great
maneuverability on the road.
‡Does not apply to fluid and filter changes. See owner’s manual for details.
The 2001 Odyssey has been awarded a quadruple 5-star‡ safety rating – the highest possible
rating– by the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). A 5-star rating
means the Odyssey met the highest criteria for frontal- and side-impact protection –
specifically, in its ability to help minimize injuries to you and your passengers in the event of
a collision. A sophisticated four-ring body shell construction is designed to help redirect
frontal- or side-impact energy into floor members and lower sills. Inside you’ll discover 3-point
seat belts at all seven seating positions and dual-stage driver’s and front passenger’s airbags
(SRS).‡‡ The second-row LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system and the
third-row child-seat tether anchor can help to ensure correct installation of child seats.
Odyssey’s 4-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS) and an Electronic Brake Distribution
(EBD) system help you to retain steering control under hard braking. On slippery surfaces,
a standard Traction Control System (TCS) helps to keep wheelspin to a minimum.
‡ NHTSA frontal crash test conducted in March of 1999. Side crash test conducted in March of 2000. Results useful for comparison with vehicles within 500 lbs. total weight.
‡‡ Honda reminds you and your passengers to always buckle up.
     5-star safety rating
Odyssey has been awarded 5-star
ratings in testing for both frontal-
and side-impact collisions by the
NHTSA (National Highway and
Traffic Safety Administration).
A security system with remote
entry is standard on the EX and
an available accessory on the LX.
It will also operate the Odyssey’s
power side doors (EX model)
from a distance of up to 50 feet.
Front and rear crush zones, a
four-ring safety shell body design
and steel side-impact door beams
are all engineered to help provide
the Odyssey with its 5-star level
of occupant protection.
Dual-stage front airbags (SRS)
and Odyssey’s 3-point seat belts
help reduce the severity of injury
to front occupants in a moderate-
to-severe frontal collision.

The more a minivan does for you, the more you can do.
For years, Honda has led the industry in
reducing the impact automobiles have on
the environment. Proving
that it can be done with little sacrifıce to
performance. In 1975, we introduced the
innovative Civic CVCC, the fırst car to
pass the federal Clean Air
Act standards without the
useof a catalytic converter.
Ever since, our engineers
have pushed the limits of
design. When California’s
standards for Low-,Ultra-
Low- and Super Ultra-Low-Emission
Vehicles (LEV, ULEV and SULEV) were
introduced over the past seven years, a
Honda was the fırst gasoline-powered car
to meet each one. In fact, we have met
these government standards before they
were mandatory. While all Civics are now
ULEV or better, every Honda does its
part. From the natural-gas Civic GX, the
cleanest internal combustion production-
engine vehicle ever built, to the LEV-rated
240-hp S2000 roadster. Wıth our track
record, it’s only fıtting that
we would
be the fırst to introduce a
gasoline-electric-powered
hybrid car in the United
States: the Insight. This
ultra-low-emissionvehicle
was the fırst car to receive the Excellence
in Environmental Engineering Award
from the Sierra Club. Honda will continue
to lead the way in providing you
with some of the most advanced
and cleanest vehicles on the road today.
