Taking good care of your blades goes a long
way towards maintaining the optimum perfor-
mance of your turbines. With an owner-operator
perspective, EDF Renewables works within your
budget to design a blade maintenance program
that includes inspections and repairs, adding
protection to prevent damage, and upgrades like
vortex generators to increase Annual Energy
Production (AEP).
Installing leading edge protection helps prevent pits and gouges.
11
Our technicians inspect and grade each blade then formulate a plan to remedy problems.
Repairing leading edge damage can increase AEP by as much as 20%.
ASSET MANAGEMENT EXPERTISEDriving financial performance improvement
The management of physical assets is key to long-term operational performance. The Asset Management team delivers the expertise that owners need to optimize the project performance and profitability while ensuring the health, safety and environment aspects.
As an owner’s representative, we provide oversight of wind and solar projects by managing the projects and all applicable agreements (commercial, municipal, provincial), certifying compliance and optimization of returns over the project’s lifecycle.
Early involvement in the project development process allows efficient collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring that timely input regarding environmental and regulatory frameworks, operational requirements and optimum equipment selection is received.
Our Asset Managers bring you the same innovative solutions that maximize the performance of our own 5.2 GW fleet. Because we operate a diverse fleet of equipment, our recommendations are transparent and data driven.

ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES
ARNPRIOR SOLAR PROJECT23.4 MW | ONTARIO
Wild flowers were planted by EDF Renewables and local stakeholders to feed monarch caterpillars and to create a complete habitat for the endangered butterfly species.
Honey produced at beehives installed at the project enhances the biodiversity.
Sheep are grazing on the vegetation between the rows of solar panels at Arnprior. The sheep reduce vegetation maintenance costs as well as provide a free source of food for the herder.

ROMNEY WIND ENERGY CENTRE 60 MW | ONTARIO
Working with the Walpole Island First Nation and the local community school, EDF Renewables installed a bald eagle platform on Walpole Island reserve.
Further, working with local resident groups, EDF Renewables distributed bat houses in the surrounding community. The houses create a new habitat for bats whose numbers are in decline because of White Nose Syndrome.
