The Probe ViewThe Probe View now contains extra calibration information about theprobes and positions in the document. When you select a position,

the bottom of the view now shows its last calibration date. Whenthe position is calibrated, the view also shows the effective diameterof the probe, the measured sphericity of the calibration sphere, andthe calibration-status icon.

When the Use form tolerance settingcheck box is selected in theCalibration Settingsdialog (see page5), the view can show a newPoorly Calibrated icon, which indicates the probe or position is

calibrated, but the measured sphericity of the calibration sphere is

outside the form tolerance. When you use a poorly calibratedposition to probe an item, a warning message asks whether youwant to continue with the measurement.

The Calibration areaThe Calibration area has been extended to show the diameter and

name of the sphere last used to calibrate the probe. It also containsa new Calibration Details button (see page9) that enables you to

    32 Part compensation PowerINSPECT 2014 What's New

Previously, PowerINSPECT was only able to apply corrections forthermal expansion and shrinkage at the level of the inspection

document. This meant that the same compensation had to beapplied when using a document to inspect multiple examples of thesame part. In PowerINSPECT 2014, you can adjust partcompensation for individual Measures, and, if supported by yourmeasuring device, automatically record the temperature for eachinspection.

These changes have no effect on measurements if you do notuse part compensation.

To specify the default compensation settings for an inspection:

1 Select the Measures > Parameters menu option. The MeasureParametersdialog is displayed.
