Euclid Network runs four programmes:
Cross-border leadershipGood governance
Sustainable fundingSoft power
Strategic priorities
Cross-border leadership
• Facilitated through formal training courses, peer-learning opportunities, and e-learning
• 21st Century Leadership programme to meet the needs of today’s third sector leaders. Innovative methodologies including:– Leadership exchanges– Tailored participatory workshops– Innovative technologies on the EN website
• Increasing knowledge sharing between the US and Europe• Partnership with Harvard University Kennedy School
offering executive education courses
Strategic priorities
Sustainable Funding
Reform of EU funding procedures• European Commission has allowed EN to set up a working group within
DG Education and Culture to help reform EU funding regulation in the next EU budget starting in 2014
Campaign for a European Social Investment Bank• A European Social Investment Bank would support the growth and
development of the European social investment marketplace, making more investment capital available to the sector and ensuring that that capital is invested more strategically. Working with FutureBuilders and Credit Coop and The Centre for Social Investment at Heidelberg University
Support and Training• Tailored training in income generation and EU funding with tools such as
the EU funding helpdesk, development courses on applying for EU funding and tools and guides available on the EN website
Strategic priorities
Good governance
• EN’s good third sector governance project launched in Paris, November 2008
• Aims to identify principles of good governance across Europe and develop tools of implementation
• Ultimate goal is to set up European standards and certification of good governance
• Peer-review group to review and measure organisational governance has been established
• Closely linked to EU funding reform project
Strategic priorities
Soft power
• The lack of reaction from the social economy / third sector actors on major subjects is a serious problem, when often it is our sector that have solutions
• Developing a rapid response panel of third sector leaders to respond to political, economic and social affairs
• Due to start in 2010

• The Northern Hub will:– Connect leaders from the Baltic Republics and former
Soviet Union countries including– Specfically meet the needs of third sector leaders in
the region– Develop regional connections– Facilitate regional job-shadowing exchanges

• Project’s impacts– Council of Europe ran extra seminars on the project’s research– UK Charity Age Concern now in talks to set up in Albania– National Democratic Institute, the charity of the Democrats, will now re-focus their priorities on governance following EN’s work in the region
• Plans to scale-up the projects activities in 2009-2011
Where we work
Former Soviet Union • In June 2009, EN were awarded funding from the United

infrastructure and increase CSO quality• The project will, in the long term, result in stronger, more
legitimate and credible CSOs with more effective democratic participation.
• EN is working on funding opportunities to connect and develop civil society in Belarus.
Where we work
Mediterranean
• EN plan to replicate our work across the Euro-Med region including Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Jordan and Lebanon
• Process will begin with a two day event that will highlight the specific leadership needs of civil society leaders in the region
National Professional Bodies
• EN has supported the creation of the first Italian body for third sector leaders, Leader2Leader, launched in June 2008 and the first Slovenian body, Slovenian Association of NGO Managers, launched in March 2009
• Other groups are in development in Portugal, Spain, Germany and Ireland
Meeting and connecting…
At the Euclid Network AGM 2009
…third sector leaders from across Europe
Where were you?
Membership• Full membership is open to
third sector leaders across Europe
• Other stakeholders can join the network as observers
• Commercial membership is available for private sector organisations
• Umbrella organisations can join and offer discounted EN membership to its members
What the members say…• During the event [in Lisbon] I established contacts with
leaders of several organisations that offer promising possibilities for concrete and useful partnerships, including one with whom we already agreed on hosting the winner of the first competition for the most socially responsible company in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which my organisation organises. This is a fantastic outcome!
Eni Kurtovic, Mozaik Foundation (Bosnia-Herzegovina)
• I've been with Euclid near enough since the start, and for me, one of the great advantages is the access to information - I get far more useful information from Euclid (and its members) than from any other source. Euclid keeps me up to date and one step ahead!
Clive Curtis, Vale Centre for Voluntary Services (UK)
