• We are not messaging SPO „sharing externally‟ capability as „Extranet‟
• Available in beta now, and is POR for GA
• Licensing:
• External users are free in SPO-L, up to 50 people.
• In K and E plans, we will license external users at a cost below Kiosk.
• They will be sold in packs.
• Final terms are not yet set for this add-on
• Steps end-to-end:
1. Turn external sharing ON for whole tenancy
2. Set up a site collection, or convert existing
3. Set external sharing to ALLOW at site collection level
4. Site Actions “Share this Site”
5. External users get invited by site collection owners*
a) They are invited with any email address
b) A Hotmail account is required to start login
c) An Office 365 account is then created, this then becomes their sign in
name and password credentials
6. End-user is now known at the SharePoint Online Directory Service within
the site collection they were invited in to
* Steps 5a-5c are not required if the person an Office 365 customer wants to
collaborate with is also already an Office 365 customer. They both have Microsoft
Online IDs and just need to be invited in across domains…
• SPO-S-W14 is a „lightweight public-facing‟ site
• One per customer/tenancy
• Based on what people could do in Office Live for Small Business
• „brochureware‟ type sites and templatized, low-bandwidth, reach-type sites
• New edit tool (ribbon based) called „Site Designer‟
• You cannot use SharePoint Designer.
• Provisioned by default with Office 365 for small business.
• Part of Office 365 for enterprise (K & E plans)
• Not there by default
• You have to create a new site collection specifically for lightweight public-
facing site in K & E plans.
• At beta timeframe
• This feature is available and working in SPO-L beta
• Not in SPO-E beta (only showing up at GA)
• Vanity URLs only supported at general availability (GA)
