The Auto Parts retail industry is a $58b industry with historic single digit growth. Total industry revenues historically have seen consistent growth year over year however have remained stagnant since 2018. Online auto part sales in 2019 forecasted to reach $12 billion (a $3.11b increase since 2017) and projected to reach $19 billion by 2022. The top market share is led by AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts and O’Reilly Auto Parts. The industry has lower entry barriers, subject to few restrictive regulations, and industry employees do not need to be highly skilled. Despite low barriers, high levels of competition exist making it difficult for new operators to succeed. The market is attractive as vehicles continue to age and car owners keeping their vehicles vs. purchasing new.

Q2 19’ TD Bank saw a dip in earnings. Much of this is related to growth in expenses rather thandeposit or loan performance. Canadian branches have greater value than their U.S.counterparts. U.S. loans account for 23% of bank’s portfolio. This benefited the bank initiallygiven the trajectory of rising interest rates, however when the Federal Reverse reduced rates,there are growing concerns of economic growth. TD Banks’s U.S. presence has predominatelybeen through acquisitions. Avg months to sale: 6.2 months.

Over the past few years, Wells Fargo made announces of bank closures in shrinking its physicalfootprint. With 200 branches closed in 2017, the bank had plans to close an additional 800 locationsby 2020. This will leave Wells Fargo with about 5,000 branches. The strategy is a result of consumerpreference for online and mobile banking. Wells Fargo also has had mounting legal litigation expensesas a result of its fake account debacle and investigations into pre-crisis mortgages. The bank plans tohave saved $4B with branch closures by end of 2019. Avg months to sale: 6.4 months.
