SHARP AS A TACK BUSINESS ATTIRE
“YOUR SUCCES
S STARTS HERE”
OUR MISSION
Sharp as a Tack Business Attire will be a new and used
clothing store that will provide Los Angeles Trade Technical
College students, staff, faculty, and its surrounding
community with convenient low-cost business attire. The
professional attire provided will be utilized for interviews,
internships, and permanent employment.
THE PROBLEM
Many college students have opportunities for employment,
but are held back by something as trivial as their clothing. It’s
so unfortunate that students cannot afford the proper
business attire for an interview. This doesn’t only apply to the
students of the Trade Tech campus, but to its surrounding
community. No one should be kept from a job or possible
career because of their clothing.
THE SOLUTION
Sharp as a Tack is a great opportunity! By investing in Sharp
as a Tack Business Attire, you will be helping address a big
problem that LATTC students are currently facing. Our store
will be a one stop shop for high end business attire at
affordable prices.
SHARP AS A TACK BUSINESS ATTIRE FLOOR PLAN CONSULTATION
BEFORE ARCHITECTURAL CONSULTATION AFTER ARCHITECTURAL CONSULTATION
CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT AND COLLABORATION
Construction: Assist in developing the construction of the retail store. Demolition of current, unnecessary needed construction to clear space to build the creation of Sharp as a Tack business attire. We would like the construction department to create our designed dressing rooms, install the electrical outlets & switches where needed, put a shine to the floor by coating the floor with epoxy, and apply a final touch of paint that draws you into a feeling tranquility.
Career Services/Gain: Assist with resume building, and/or employment searches and opportunities. Demonstrate proper etiquette for an interview and teach how to respond appropriately to certain questions during an interview.
Fashion Design: Assist in current up-to-date fashions that will present a professional look and offer tailoring, so that our fellow peers and community will stride into the doors of Sharp as a Tack.
Cosmetology: Provide haircuts & styling. Leave the department with the education of keeping proper, grooming techniques.
Marketing: Assist in marketing to the local community, LATTC and other LACCD campuses. Also, reach out to businesses for continuing financial and clothing donations.
Accounting: Assist in keeping all sales, inventory, donations, and expenses documented properly and accurately.
STUDENT SURVEYS: THE FEEDBACK
According to a recent student survey, specifically questions 3A and 3B, students do not feel that LATTC is sufficiently helping or improving their ability to acquire employment or advance in their career. The survey also indicated that students do not feel that the school is helping or improving their ability to attain a job or work-related knowledge and skills. This is astonishing considering that LATTC is a 75% CTE (Career Technical Education) school.
FOR EVERY NEGATIVE, THERE IS A POSITIVE
By Identifying & Creating Solutions
STUDENT SURVEY PLAN OF ATTACKSince the students here at LATTC feel that they’re not
being provided with the tools they need to acquire a new career or advance in their current career, we’ll help
fulfill that need.
Approving a retail store that will provide professional
business attire will get our students and community to an interview looking Sharp as a
Tack, and give them the on job training they’re looking for.
Creating a retail store on campus will result in reduced negative feedback from our
students since the store is an outlet in which they can seek the tools they’re asking for.
See, we can kill two birds with one stone here. The
students want the tools and our school wants more
successful students. Sharp as a Tack is ready, are you?!
SOLUTION FOCUSED
