OBJECTIVES

When given a book, Kindergarten students will be able to identify the author and the illustrator and tell the teacher their roles in the book with 100% accuracy.

When read a book, Kindergarten students will be able to tell about the setting, characters, and events that take place in the book, with 90% accuracy.

Students will be able to tell if the book is either a fiction or nonfiction book with no mistakes.

AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR

The author writes the words in the books. The illustrator draws the pictures in the

books.

Author song: “The author writes the words, the author writes the words; the one that writes the story is the author of the book”

Illustrator song: “The illustrator makes the pictures in the books, pictures in the books, pictures in the book. The illustrator makes the pictures in the books, that we like to read.

SETTING

Characters are who the book is about and who is in the book.

The plot is what the story is about and what happens.

Lets read The Polar Express What is the plot?

The young boy goes on an adventure to find Santa They ride on a train to the North Pole Santa gives the boy a bell, but if he wants to hear it,

he needs to believe in Santa. Who are the characters?
