Rock through east side window.

R/P (Building Manager) stated an unknown suspect broke into the business during the overnight hours. An office window on the east side of the building was broken out. A large rock had been thrown through the window allowing access to the closed business. The interior of the business was searched and nothing was disturbed or taken. Note: The same business was broken into 03/08/2019 at 1:42am. In that incident, the suspect was observed on surveillance video breaking out the south door window. He fled over the wall to the rear of the business. Suspect Description: One subject wearing a black and grey striped zip up jacket, black sweatpants with a diamond design on the calf and white gloves.

Officer was on routine patrol traveling through the parking lot of Hotel in the 27000 Block of Northwestern Hwy when he observed a 2007 Silver Audi A6, backed into a parking space. The vehicle was unoccupied. Officer ran the plate through LEIN and discovered the vehicle was reported Stolen out of Columbus Ohio on 03/01/2019. The vehicle was confirmed stolen by Columbus PD. Officer conducted surveillance on the vehicle for a period and did not see anyone occupy or approach the vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered and Columbus PD was advised of the recovery. Officer spoke to the owner of the vehicle who gave Officer suspect information of who possibly stole the vehicle. No suspect was located at this time.

Victim states she parked her vehicle at 10:30pm at her Apartment Complex in the 21000 Block of Rampart Circle. Victim’s father went to start the vehicle the following morning at 8:45am and the vehicle was gone. There was broken glass in the snow where victim’s car was parked. Victim stated that her vehicle was just recently in for repairs. Unknown if its related.

He went into the business to get a sandwich and when he got to the cash register he realized he had forgotten his wallet in the center console of his vehicle. When he went to retrieve his wallet, it was gone. Victim states he left his vehicle unlocked. No suspect information.

Victim reports on 03/12/2019 at approx. 2:00am he placed his wallet on the counter at the Sunoco Gas Station. He left the gas station and realized later he forgot his wallet. He went back to the gas station and his wallet was gone. The clerk showed victim surveillance video of someone taking the wallet. He could not provide a description of the suspect at the time of reporting incident.

R/P states she was talking to her sister in law and got into an argument over an up-coming birthday party. At some point during the dispute it got physical between victim and her sister in law. The sister in laws daughter attempted to break the fight up. R/P’s cell phone (3 credit cards and driver’s license attached on the back) ended up on the floor and the daughter picked it up and threw it over a wall in their parking lot into the woods. The phone was recovered. Victim is leaving the state and doesn’t wish to prosecute.

Victim states he walked to the back of the kitchen and set an undisclosed amount of cash on a cart. The business was very busy and victim had to go back out front to wait on a customer. When he came back some of the cash that he had set down had been taken. The manager interviewed all the employee’s and had them empty out their pockets. No money was recovered. Victim states that some of the cash was businesses and some was his personal money. No suspect information.

Victims advise they were working in the 26000 Block of Franklin Rd. (Church) They started collecting up the tools they were using and placed them into the trucks and forgot to lock the vehicles. Someone opened the sliding door on one of their vehicles and took several items including the keys for the vehicle. The second vehicle was also unlocked and the suspects took tools out of this vehicle also. There were no witnesses, no cameras, and no suspect information.

Victim states that she had taken her wedding band off at approx. 12:30am and placed it on the night stand with her earrings and other ring before going to bed. The only individual to come into her room was a staff member who cleans the apartments for residents. (Assisted Living) This person came to her apartment at approx. 11:30am to change the sheets and had placed the TV remotes from the bed on the night stand that contained victim’s jewelry. Victim went to get dressed for the day after the staff person left and noticed her wedding band missing. Victim advised that no other persons were in her room between the times that her ring came up missing. The cleaning person has been identified and incident is under investigation.

Victim states she was in line at business and had placed her phone on the counter. A female was hovering behind her. The female then came very close to her and practically shoved her over. Victim wasn’t paying attention to her phone. When she left the store, she realized she did not have her phone. Victim went back in and spoke with the manager. He called her phone and heard it ring, but they could not figure out where it was coming from. The female that was hovering around victim was still in the store. She was waiting for the cashier. Victim thinks when they called her phone the ring came from this person. Surveillance video from store confirmed that the person that was hovering around victim is responsible. Victim, later was advised by her father that he received a phone call from a child in Detroit that stated he found the phone. No further information at this time. Suspect Description: Last Name

Victim stated he did not sign for the package, nor did he authorize anyone to do so on his behalf. No suspect information.

Officers were dispatched to the 25000 Block of Twelve Mile (Apartments) reference a welfare check. A cab driver dropped off a woman at that location. She left a credit card and boarding pass from her flight with the driver. She told the driver she was going to check on an Airbnb she was staying at and she would be right back. She gave an address where she was going but never returned. Officers arrived on scene and were unable to locate female. Victim attempted to run the subjects credit card and it came back declined. Be on the Look Out Highlights: Arrests by SPD Officers:

Special Attention- Road Rage Incident A&B/ Poss. Felonious Assault 03/12/2019 9:48am Lahser Rd. & W Nine Mile Rd. Several Officers received dispatched information regarding a Road Rage Incident involving three separate vehicles that occurred at 9 Mile & Lahser Rd. A witness reported that one of the subjects had a gun and pointed it one of the other drivers. This vehicle and subject were located by Officers and the vehicle was stopped. The driver made admissions that he had a gun in the glovebox of his vehicle. The driver stated he observed Road Rage Incident and one of the drivers was assaulting the other driver. He yelled at the driver to stop but he didn’t stop his assault on the other driver. Subject stated he pulled out his handgun so the subject could see that he was armed, (didn’t point it at anyone) and told him to stop again. This time the subject stopped his assault on the other driver, got back in his car & left. The driver that was assaulted stated the other driver was driving erratic because he was texting on his cell phone. The two exchanged unpleasantries while stopped at the intersection of 9 Mile & Lahser. The other driver then exited his vehicle, opened his driver’s door and punched him in the face several

times. Everyone from incident has been identified and incident is under further investigation. The handgun was confiscated from the witness.

Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility

Minor in Possession of Marijuana- Civil Infraction issued. 03/11/2019 10:41am 24000 Block of Lahser Rd. (High School) Southfield Police Liaison Officer was summoned to the Assistant Principal Office regarding a 12th Grade Student who was in possession of suspected marijuana. Officer was advised by the Asst. Principal that while questioning student about a separate incident she discovered that the student was in possession of suspected marijuana. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician Field Tested a sample of the suspected marijuana and the result was positive for possible presence of marijuana. The student was issued a Civil Infraction for Possession of Marijuana 18-20 Years Old. School Administration will be handling any student disciplinary action.

Special Attention: UDAA’s Chevy Trail Blazers In the last couple week’s several older model Chevy Trail Blazers have been stolen: All the incidents occurred during the late night to early morning hours in the 12 Mile & Northwestern area.

Disorderly Person- 1- Arrest 03/14/2019 02:34 26000 Evergreen Rd (Lobby- Police Department!) Officer was working the front desk when subject entered the police lobby. Subject seemed very irate and was very upset and had his hands in his pockets. The subject stepped in front of citizen that Officer was helping and stated, "arrest me!" Officer asked the subject why he should arrest him and he stated, "Cause I'm going to whoop your ass." The subject made numerous other threatening comments. The citizen that Officer was helping immediately walked away from the area. The subject stated, "come out here and find out what happens." The Desk Officer notified Southfield Dispatch regarding Disorderly Person in the Police Lobby. Several Officers responded to the lobby and took the subject into custody for Disorderly Person. The subject was highly intoxicated. Officers questioned subject and attempted to obtain information from him so they could possibly help him. They asked him if he wanted to go to the Hospital. He refused any help and refused to give Officers his name. Incident and subject are under further investigation.

Scammers then impersonate IRS agents, alter the Caller ID information and contact the refund recipient advising them the money must be returned before facing arrest, deportation or suspension of their driver’s license. The target will be asked to return the refund through a gift card or wire transfer or the caller will attempt to get personal information from the target.

R&O- 1- Arrest 03/17/2019 5:18am 22000 Telegraph Rd. (Motel) Officers were dispatched to the 22000 Block of Telegraph Rd. (Motel) in response to an intoxicated subject that was being disorderly. Officers arrived on scene, located subject and spoke to the manager. The manager advised that the subject just checked out of his room and was upset because he couldn’t get a taxi to come and get him. Prior to Officers arrival subject knocked chairs over in the lobby. Officers contacted subject. He was highly intoxicated and when asked to remove his hands from his pockets he refused to do so. For Officer Safety reasons, Officers had to forcefully remove subject’s hands from his pockets. Subject continued to be disorderly and refused to give Officers any information. Officers took subject into custody for Disorderly Person.

The IRS requires all paid tax preparers to have one before filing any returns.

CCW- 1- Arrest 03/15/2019 12:11am Beech Rd. & Shiawassee Rd. Officers observed vehicle E/B on 8 Mile Rd. The driver looked over at Officers and immediately looked away and hit the turn around to go W/B on 8 Mile Rd. It appeared that the driver was attempting to avoid Officers. Officers ran plate on vehicle and the Electronic Insurance Verification (EIV) on vehicle came back “No” on vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle. The driver appeared very nervous and was shaking as Officers were talking to him and he kept looking down between his legs at the seat. Officers asked the driver if there was anything in the vehicle that they should be concerned with. The driver stated he had some marijuana and there was a gun under the front seat. The handgun was recovered from under the front seat. It was confirmed that the driver didn’t have a CPL and he was taken into custody w/o incident for CCW.

Domestic Felonious Assault- 1- Arrest 03/15/2019 11:26pm 23000 Telegraph Rd. (Hotel) On 03/15/2019 at approx.11:00pm, Officers were dispatched to 23300 Telegraph Rd (Hotel) on a Domestic. The R/P works for a food delivery service, he was delivering food on the second floor and overheard a female screaming for help. He determined the screams were coming from a specific room. Upon arrival, Officers went to the room in question and could hear a female voice screaming for help. The female sounded as if she was in distress. As Officers approached the hotel room door, a male opened the door and appeared to be leaving. Officers observed a small laceration above the males left eye. The laceration appeared to be fresh. Officers could still hear the female in the room crying. Officers Investigation: Female was in the room with her 3- Children, 2- Children in common with the male on scene. Victim states that her boyfriend and she got into a verbal argument and like always it escalated to the point it got physical. The male got on top of her and started choking her until she nearly passed out. Victim fought back and struck the male once in the face. Victim attempted to call 911 but her boyfriend took the phone from her and ripped the cord from the phone. Victim kept crying for help until the Police arrived. Victims injuries and damage to the phone were consistent with victim’s statement. The male subject was taken into custody for F/A and interfering with 911 call. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician was on scene and took photos of scene and victims injuries.
