PPS telescope – main idea
• Have 10 layers of PPS in one test-bench• The entire construction is between scintillators (top and bottom)
for external trigger• Every PPS layer is an autonomic detector unit which can be
activated and read with the MicroDAQ system separately• Every layer is inserted to the telescope like two drawers
– Panel Drawer - Placeholder for the panel for accurate alignment, pickoff card, HV connections and gas outlet connections are “built in”.
– MEZZ drawer -inside the hedgehog card and mezzanine card • The very front end (pickoff +mezz card) are inside the drawer • Panel Drawer height is minimal (2cm). Mezz drawer height is
4cm.

Online
• Trigger system: PMTs + NIM logic• Precision readout: gassiplex chips read by VME
ADC + sequencer• PPS read out: signals from each line is
discriminated and the logic OR of all the channels is inserted into the VME TDC
Offline analysis
• Identify muons passing through both precision chambers
• Estimate the coordinates of the Muon in the tested PPS panel
• Look for signal in the panel. Now we look for the entire area, next step is to separate the channels
