INTRODUCTION
This research report is based on the interviews taken by our
group members. We interviewed five grandparents, five parents
and five teenagers(of our age).
The senior most male
member was the bread
earner of the family.
Girls and women were not
given importance.
Women were not allowed
to work.
Some continued to
follow old customs and
traditions while the
others tried to change
their way of living.
ANSWERS OF GRANDPARENTS
SIMILARITIES DIFFERENCES
Family planning was
taken into consideration.
Women along with men
became the bulk of the
family income.
Girls were given the
liberty to study. However,
this idea was resented by
some.
Some people treated
women equally whereas
the others didn’t.
ANSWERS OF PARENTS
SIMILARITIES DIFFERENCES
There are no differences in the
upbringing of boys and girls, and
girls enjoy similar liberty as the
boys in the family.
Most children agreed to it that
women have got a lot of freedom
as compared to the previous
decade.
Everyone rather agreed that
girls have rather excelled ahead
of boys when it comes to
education and other fields these
days.
A few children said that women
belonging to the upper-middle
class and upper class of the
society received liberty, and the
ones belonging to the lower
classes or ones living in rural
India didn’t.
A couple of individuals
mentioned that even though boys
and girls are studying together
without any differences, there are
a few orthodox schools which are
reserved for either boys or girls.
ANSWERS OF TEENAGERS
SIMILARITIES DIFFERENCES
FAMILY PLANNING WASN’T
SEEN IN THIS GENERATION.
MEN WERE CONSIDERED
SUPERIOR; WOMEN DID NOT
RECEIVE MUCH IMPORTANCE.
WOMEN DID THE
HOUSEHOLD WORK WHILE
MEN DID MORE OF PHYSICAL
WORK.
FAMILY PLANNING WAS TAKEN
INTO CONSIDERATION DURING
PARENTS’ GENERATION.
POSITION OF WOMEN
CHANGED; THEY WERE
ALLOWED TO WORK.
PARENTS TRIED TO CHANGE
OLD CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS
WHICH WERE FOLLOWED BY
THE GRANDPARENTS.

CONCLUSION
THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE THREE GENERATIONS. THE
PRINCIPLE “TO CHANGE WITH CHANGING TIMES” IS CLEARLY SEEN BY THE
TRANISION IN THE WAY OF TREATING WOMEN. MEN WERE THE ONLY
FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THE FAMILY IN GRANDPARENTS’ GENERATION BUT
THIS SITUATION CHANGED DURING THE PARENTS’ GENERATION.
PEOPLE WERE READY TO ALTER THEIR CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS IN
PARENTS GENERATION IN ORDER TO FIND A PLACE IN THE CHANGING
SOCIETY. HOWEVER THIS WAS NOT OBSERVED IN GRANDPARENTS’
GENERATION.
CONCLUSION
THOUGH THE SOCIETY IS EXPERIENCING DRASTIC CHANGES, THERE
ARE A FEW ORTHODOX MEMBERS WHO ARE A BIT RELUCTANT TO
CHANGE.
DURING GRANDPARENTS’ GENERATION PEOPLE WERE
TRUSTWORTHY . NOW, EVEN THE SAFETY OF WOMEN CANNOT BE
ENSURED.
THE GOVERNMENT IS TAKING SUCCESSFUL STEPS AND INITIATIVES
FOR WOMEN-EMPOWERMENT AND THE POSITION OF WOMEN IN THE
SOCIETY IS RISING WITH LEAPS AND BOUNDS IN ALL SPHERES, FROM
COMMERCE TO ADMINISTRATION AND SERVICES.
