We’re heading to a Field of Dreams Thursday, June 9, 2016!!
The Prince’s Ball On Thursday, June 4, 2015 the Porter Hills Foundation took a
journey to The Prince’s Ball. The transforming tale of Cinderella
took us on a journey revealing dreams do come true with kindness,
courage, and faithful friends. We discovered that “It’s Possible” with perseverance and a pure heart.

With the Angel Fund
It’s PossibleWe were honored that more than
400 guests joined us on this evening
to celebrate the transformation
of dreams to reality through the
generous support of our Angel
Fund. Seeded 100% with charitable
contributions, this self-sustaining
fund provides the “magic” for
future endeavors to grow wings
and take flight.
As each funded dream realizes
success, the initial investment
is repaid to the Angel Fund and a
new dream is provided with the
opportunity for growth. Over time,
the Angel Fund will allow Porter Hills
to self-fund many, if not all, future
programs, projects and quite possibly
all of its capital needs.
With the Angel Fund and our friends
we truly believe“It’s Possible.”

“The grass REALLY is always greener at Porter Hills!”
On Wednesday, June 24, 2015, the Porter Hills Foundation kicked off summer with their 2nd Annual Porter Hills Golf Classic…The Grass Is Always Greener. It was a crazy day of golfing with a spinning wheel, a Judge and a Musician all to support the Porter Hills Benevolent Fund. This specially designated fund allows us to assist eligible residents who have exhausted their financial resources.

When Porter Hills lost Steven Jones last year, his family created an art fund. In keeping with the wishes of the Jones family to preserve the memory of their loved one, memorial funds were raised to acquire original artwork by Michigan artists and were unveiled in ceremonies at Cook Valley Estates and Porter Hills Village in April 2015.
Steven Jones’ family was well represented at the Unveiling Ceremonies. Quran Griffin said of her father that when he moved them from Los Angeles to Michigan the family grew to include their extended Porter Hills family. Oftentimes he would knock on the doors of his “work family” who graciously accepted his family into their lives. Steven’s sister, Debbie Jones, was instrumental in establishing this art fund, served on the Art Selection Committee and said she thought her brother would love the vibrancy and real sense of continuance that the artworks represent.
The artists joined family, friends, donors, residents and staff for the Unveiling Ceremonies.
An oil on paper by well-known local painter, Stephen Duren, of Caledonia, Michigan, is exhibited in the Main Lobby of Porter Hills Village, with a very colorful and bold sense of style.
A series of five large glassworks by Mr. Robin Hages, represented by the Water Street Gallery in Douglas, Michigan, is installed along the grand stairway at Cook Valley Estates, adding a sense of light, energy and movement.
James Preston, Chairman Emeritus of the Porter Hills Foundation, said the Unveiling Ceremonies were held in celebration of a man who for many was the “first face” of Porter Hills. Acquiring the works of art to honor Steven Jones serves as a lasting tribute to a beautiful man who, like the exquisite works that have become part of the Porter Hills art collection,
was a tremendous asset to the Porter Hills community.
Steven sparked a sense of creativity in us and with the addition of the new art, his spirit will live on at Porter Hills, added the Reverend Melody Johnson. Porter Hills President/CEO Larry Yachcik remembered Steven Jones as a kind, gregarious man with great energy and a unique laugh who embraced the Porter Hills community for over a decade. The art acquisitions which are of great beauty remind us of Steven’s inspiration and vitality.
Those interested in establishing an art fund in honor of loved ones or to celebrate significant milestones can contact our Director of Major and Planned Gifts, Stephanie Neal, at (616) 309-1035.
