The Practice was formed in 1991 by Hassan Mustafa, Trevor Gwyn and Peter Maddocks. The three founding members

were friends and work colleagues since 1978 and this strong bond formed the foundations of the Practice. We are

based in central London but our projects are nationwide.

The Practice has worked as an integrated unit, moving and evolving with the times, and is involved in construction

technology, sustainability and legislation. MGM has worked closely with our many clients and this has enabled us to

develop high quality designs throughout each project. Creative and imaginative solutions enable projects to be delivered

efficiently with cost effective budgets.

The need for flexibility, efficiency and performance is always paramount in our design and management process and we

have never forgotten our success depends on our ability, not only to meet, but also to exceed our client’s expectations.

To maintain high standards and achieve our goals, MGM does not just rely on conventional wisdom, we listen. We take

time to understand our client’s business and goals, and then we deliver in the most effective way using our wealth of

specialist experience and knowledge

Over the years the practice has achieved many successes carrying out a wide range of projects including Office

Developments, Office Refurbishments and fit-outs, Industrial and Warehouse Parks, Retail and Leisure schemes. In

addition, MGM has over the years formed strong business bonds with large companies including, Peugeot Motor

Company Plc for whom we developed the “Blue Box concept”.

The founding partner’s original client base was commercial clients dating back to 1978. In 1991 when MGM Associates

was formed all of these clients came on board as they recognised the good work and business relationship nurtured by

the founding partner Hassan Mustafa.

Some of these firms have either merged or been taken over, yet MGM Associates still maintains good relations and

continues to provide an Architectural service to these companies.

MGM has over the years formed strong business bonds with large international companies notably within the motor

industry:

For Peugeot Motor Company Plc we developed the “Blue Box concept”, their trust in our ability to use our specialist

Architectural skills to benefit our clients in the most cost effective way was proven by them appointing us as their Lead

Architect in the UK, a position we held for 10 years from 2000-2010.

We have also designed and built showrooms and workshop facilities nationwide for Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Citroen,

Ford, Nissan and Skoda to name a few.

In 2001 MGM began concentrating and diversifying the business into the residential sector. One of our first large clients

within this sector was Fairview New Homes, a client we still have links with today.

Within the last ten years we can now count many of the largest and prestigious residential developers and contractors

as our clients.

This whole new sector within MGM has grown by “word of mouth” and now accounts for 45% of our business. On

average we oversee, design and build approximately 1,000 residential units a year.

In all our residential schemes we look at Life Time Homes, SDS, Code for Sustainable Homes and we work closely with

our client’s Housing Association needs. We take the stress out for our clients by liaising directly and precisely to make

sure the development complies with all necessary local and national guidelines, be it with Secured by Design or specialist

Wheelchair Design Guides, we have the knowledge and expertise to make schemes work.

Whilst our business moves and changes, so do we. In 1995 we employed Sid Satrettin, a young graduate who then went

on to attain his diploma in Architecture with sustainable technology in 1998 and is now one of the Directors within the

practice. A little known subject then, but sustainable technology is now at the forefront of all projects. We have

successfully completed residential schemes in both code 3 & code 4 for sustainable homes, as well as the previous eco

homes very good & excellent. We have successfully completed commercial schemes with Breeam, good and very good.

We are also a registered Trada Member and have used their expertise to enhance our knowledge and have ever

increasingly utilised timber construction within our residential projects.

The practice sets itself the highest standards, if we say we can, we can, if we say we will, we will.

Whilst we offer a comprehensive service, what may come as a surprise is the fresh approach we bring to everything we

do.

Much in the same way we design our projects to be as environmentally friendly as possible, as a practice we advocate

any initiatives within the day to day running of the business that can contribute positively to the benefit of the

environment. We offer our staff the opportunity to utilise a cycle to work scheme by contributing towards new bycicles

and cycle equipment. In other instances, our directors and staff all utilise public transport to travel to and from our

offices.

Our business is also digital, limiting our use of paper, and if the need arises, allowing our staff to work from home thus

limiting their Carbon Footprint. We have the latest computer systems with the most upto date software which in turn

helps us provide our clients the best service possible with an added emphasis on quality and attention to detail.
