A Visit with…Barb Rosenstock!

All Ages; Open to any library card holder
Celebrate National Library Week with a visit from Barb Rosenstock, formerly of Burbank, the noted author of several children's books, including The Camping Trip That Changed America & Fearless! Enjoy Ms. Rosenstock's exciting interactive presentation on the writing and research behind her books. Copies of her books will be available to purchase for autographing.
Jobs and Java
Staff members of the library are once again offering FREE seminars to assist patrons that are
seeking employment. There are three seminar topics which will focus on the process of the
job search. The sessions are limited to 11 registered participants so that we can give quality time to each attendee and offer a ‘hands-on’ approach to
the computer side of the job hunt.

“Global Warming! What’s a Kid to Do?” Monday, April 22nd at 7:00 p.m. All Ages
Celebrate Earth Day! Journey with Kidsworks Touring Theatre Company in an educational and eye awakening performance for children of all ages. Kidsworks brings Global Warming myths and facts to life, and offers positive solutions to saving the air, the trees, the oceans and ourselves!
Empowering Girls to Uncover Their Truth Tuesday, April 23rd at 4:00 p.m.
For girls ages: 9-17 Length: 11/2 hours
Gina Marie’s program incorporates breathing exercises, yoga, medita-tion, deep relaxation, positive intention, interactive talk and creative art. This program will inspire girls and get them learning more about them-selves.
Please bring a journal for the program. This is a rescheduled program date.

Join us for a storytime filled with interaction with your child! Have fun with short stories, fingerplays and songs. The little ones will enjoy fun with puppets, puzzles and blocks!

All you “Bingo” lovers come and play a few rounds of “Bingo!” This game is easy to play and does not require any reading ability. Winners will get prizes and sweet treats will be given out to all participants after the games. So sign up soon!!!
How Many Jelly Beans? Thursday, April 4th at 11:00 a.m.
Grades: K-2nd
Limit: 20 Length: 45 minutes
Did you ever wonder how many jelly beans you could carry in one hand? If you ate three jelly beans every day for a year, how many jelly beans would you eat? How many jelly beans is too many? Well, we’re going to find out! We will read “How Many Jelly Beans,” by Andrea Menotti and complete a craft with jelly beans.

Rex’s Antique Show April 4th at 7:00 p.m.
Professional appraiser Rex Newell of Rex’s Antiques will appraise your an-
tiques, relics, and collectibles. The first 40 Prairie Trails Public Library card-
holders registered will be able to have one hand-held item appraised by Rex.
Weapons are not allowed.

Little Trivia on the Prairie Tournament Join us for a friendly competition among librarians. Prairie Trails has challenged other libraries to
send their best to take part in the game of Trivial Pursuit. The general public is welcome to view the
tournament, so come cheer the “Prairie Dogs” on to victory!
History of Star Trek® Collectibles Tuesday, April 16th at 6:30 p.m. Join sociology professor and Star Trek fan John Tenuto for a fun look at 46 years of Star Trek
collectibles. Learn about the special place that Star Trek has in McDonald's Happy Meal
history. Enjoy photos and stories of some of the strangest collectibles ever made, from
"Marshmellon" dispensers to Star Trek waffles. Celebrate the fun of collecting with behind the
scenes trivia about the making of Star Trek's most popular toys and take a retro trip through
categories of collecting such as action figures, books, and video games from all versions of Star
Trek. Winner of the NISOD Award for Teaching and the College of Lake County Outstanding
Faculty of the Year Award, John Tenuto was named one of Star Trek's most influential fans by
New York Magazine's "Vulture.com" in 2012. His research on Star Trek and popular culture
have been featured on BBC Radio and WGN News, and in the Chicago Tribune and USA
Today newspapers.
