Praises Unto God Not To Man!by Pastor Fee Soliven
Matthew 6:1-6Wednesday Evening
January 21, 2015
1 "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward
from your Father in heaven.
2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you,
they have their reward.
3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your
right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward
you openly.
5 "And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you,
they have their reward.
6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the
secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
1 "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward
from your Father in heaven.
Isaiah 64:6"But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags;
We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
Luke 18:9-149 Also He spoke this parable to some who
trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 Two
men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not
like other men--extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.
12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.' 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as
raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a
sinner!' 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the
other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles
himself will be exalted."
2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you,
they have their reward.
Deuteronomy 15:10-1110 You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the
LORD your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. 11 For the poor will never cease
from the land; therefore I command you, saying, 'You shall open your hand wide to
your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.'
“Hypocrite” was the Greek word for “Actor,”
Proverbs 20:6"Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful
man?"
1 Corinthians 13:3"And though I bestow all my goods to
feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits
me nothing."
3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your
right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward
you openly.
Matthew 5:8"Blessed are the pure in heart, For they
shall see God."
5 "And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you,
they have their reward.
Proverbs 30:12-1412 There is a generation that is pure in its
own eyes, Yet is not washed from its filthiness. 13 There is a generation--oh,
how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up. 14 There is a generation
whose teeth are like swords, And whose fangs are like knives, To devour the poor from off the earth, And the needy from
among men.
Colossians 3:23-2523 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the
reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has
done, and there is no partiality.
6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the
secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Psalm 77:1-61 I cried out to God with my voice--To God with my voice; And He gave ear to me. 2
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; My hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing; My soul refused to be
comforted. 3 I remembered God, and was troubled; I complained, and my spirit was
overwhelmed. Selah
4 You hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. 5 I have
considered the days of old, The years of ancient times. 6 I call to remembrance my
song in the night; I meditate within my heart, And my spirit makes diligent
search.
Isaiah 38:1-81 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, "Thus
says the LORD: 'Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.'" 2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, 3 and said, "Remember now, O
LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight." And Hezekiah
wept bitterly.
4 And the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying, 5 "Go and say to Hezekiah,
'Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: "I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to
your days fifteen years. 6 I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of
Assyria, and I will defend this city." ‘
7 And this is the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing which He has spoken: 8 Behold, I will
bring the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down with the sun on the
sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward." So the sun returned ten degrees on the
dial by which it had gone down.
