Mg2Si-Ge based semiconductor materials were primarily studied in this context. Second part of the project includes the fabrication of some of the best thermoelectric materials like Si-Ge, Pb-Te, Mg2Si by ball milling, hot press, spin plasma sintering etc. Bulk as well as nano- sized thermoelectric materials were prepared. We did the characterization of the sample using XRD; the chemical composition and the particle sizes are predicted. Thermal conductivity and Seebeck coefficient measurements were conducted. CAREER OBJECTIVE !

A position in research and development department of a leading research company or organization which should enable me to use my scientific background. A dynamic and stimulating work environment with challenging research questions and opportunities of personal development.

WORK EXPERIENCE !

May,2012 - present PhD student

PROMOTER: Prof. R. A. de Groot, Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands. (www.ru.nl/english/)

▪ My research work is based upon the basic understanding of magnetic refrigerant (magnetocaloric) materials based on computational physics. By using density functional theory on these materials, we successfully explained the mechanism that govern the magneto-elastic transition. We also performed detailed study to calculate efficiency of the system. Further research to improve the efficiency of these materials are in progress. ▪ The work is a part of Industrial partnership program between FOM and BASF future business. We

are working in close collaboration with the experimental group under Prof. Ekkes Brück, based in TU Delft.

Jan, 2011 - Feb,2012 Project assistant

PROMOTER: Dr. Ajay Dhar, National Physical Laboratory, India (http://www.nplindia.org/)

▪ Major part of the project was devoted to gain knowledge about modeling thermoelectric materials and calculate the figure of merit for the system using DFT techniques. Mg2Si-Ge based semiconductor materials were primarily studied in this context. ▪ Second part of the project includes the fabrication of some of the best thermoelectric materials like

Si-Ge, Pb-Te, Mg2Si by ball milling, hot press, spin plasma sintering etc. Bulk as well as nano-sized thermoelectric materials were prepared. We did the characterization of the sample using XRD; the chemical composition and the particle sizes are predicted. Thermal conductivity and Seebeck coefficient measurements were conducted. ▪ Chemical synthesis of Fe3O4 based ferroelectric materials.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING !

July,2008 - May,2010 M.Sc., Physics; Jawaharlal Nehru University, India

PROMOTER: Prof. Akhilesh Pandey, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India (www.jnu.ac.in)

▪ The masters-thesis was written on random matrix theory. In my project the universality of the energy spectra was shown in two separate ways. One by using direct construction of special matrices and calculating joint probability distribution(JPD); and the other method incorporated Monte-Carlo methods to start with JPD itself. Special attention was given to the edge of the spectral distribution.

July 2005 - May 2008 B.Sc., Physics; Scottish Church College, India

PERSONAL SKILLS !

Communication skills ▪ Good communication skills gained through teaching assistantship for Electrodynamics course (3 semesters) for MSc students (Radboud University)

Interests Travelling : Travelling various countries. Sports : Playing badminton. Running. Gliding in NijAC (http://www.nijac.nl/) club. Music : participating in a group of world music.
