WELCOMEe’re honored you’ve gathered here with us. Wher-ever you’re from, whatever your life’s experiences,

whatever your experience with God has been, we’re glad you’re here. Tonight is an opportunity for us to celebrate who God is, what God has done and what He’s invit-ing us to step into individually and collectively. One of our values as a community is honest expression, and we hope tonight you’ll find the space to be honest before God and others.

Tonight is only a small part of who we are. We gath-er throughout the week as we practice another one of our values, Church, everywhere. Church isn’t an event. Church is a gathering of people on the foundation of Jesus - whenever and wherever we meet. We invite you to explore some of the things we do outside of Sunday night.

You’ll find those opportunities in this first issue of Praxis Magazine. Every four months, we highlight our small groups, opportunities to serve within City Beautiful Church and opportunities to serve locally and globally. This publication is a snapshot of some of our collective initiatives.

These gatherings throughout the week are opportunities for you to  contribute  the unique gifts God has given you as we continue to become the people and Church God has created us to be. Because Church is relational, sometimes it’s really difficult, but we want to be a people who are committed to one another for the longterm. We want to be people who don’t give up on one another in the journey of spiritual maturity. Rather, we want to proactively encourage, challenge and equip one anoth-er to recognize and continually live in God’s presence.

The italicized phrases above are ideas and statements from our Mission Statement and Values. We invite you to find out more about who we are by joining us for an Exposure Session the first Sunday of each month. Expo-sure is a helpful start, but to really get to know who we are requires time and relationship. So we invite you to take risk, step outside what’s comfortable and discover the people who make City Beautiful Church what it is.

Bessings in Christ.

e believe God has designed us for rhythms of life which center us upon Him. Sunday gatherings are special in the opportunity afforded to come

together as one Body, to freely receive from Our Father and freely give to oth-ers. Together through worship, teaching, fellowship and communion we learn to share our particular reflection of the character of God in such a way as we all come to a greater understanding of who He is and who we are created to be in light of His love. Our desire is for the encounters at our Sunday gathering to overflow into every aspect of our lives throughout the week as we are trans-formed into the likeness of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We gather at the SAK Theatre Downtown Orlandoat 6pm & 8pm.

reenhouse’s mission is to create an environment focused around community, honesty and flexibility for our children.  Together we are creating a legacy

that affirms children and families as extraordinarily valued. This community is based in honesty, living with each other openly; embracing and supporting each other as we traverse life together.  Celebrating the victories, comforting the sorrows and trudging through the mundane.  Life is unpredictable and even more so with children. We embrace this and desire to flow with the Holy Spirit; to be flexible and move with His plans. For more information on serving with Greenhouse, please email [email protected].

The Greenhouse is our learning environment for kids and is open for the 6pm Service.

e are located in Downtown Orlando and Windermere. Each week we strive to create an environment where students can gather to worship and live in

community with one another. We seek to have a direct correlation between what the Spirit does in our gatherings and the expansion of the kingdom in our high schools. Our Thursday and Saturday night gatherings are held at a sponsoring home around the city of Orlando, where we fellowship, worship and learn together. For more information email [email protected]

We believe that “church” does not simply start and end on a Sunday evening. In order to facilitate fellowship and togetherness throughout the week, we host a series of small groups that reflect who we are as a community in word, worship, prayer, generosity, and hospitality. There is a wide expression of what a small group can be at City Beautiful, from thematic studies to informal worship gatherings, yet we all seek after the heart of the Father in our particular gifts and perspectives. We seek to build one another up in works of service to the unified Body of Christ. As each of us contribute our time, gifts, and resources to the well-being of the community, we grow together in our understanding of who God is and who He has created us to be. Within the church we have many opportunities for serving one another at all levels of involvement, from the creative arts to children, discipleship to hospitality. We foster an environment of dedication by pursuing relational strength above running programs, and we would encourage you to prayerfully step into new

territory for service as you feel the Lord leading.

O P E R AT I O N SWe are the smiling face as you are greeted at the door and the smell of coffee as you walk into the lobby. We are the first to come and the last to leave as we transform the SAK Theatre into our home for Sunday Nights. Our goal is to create a place for us to gather and an environment for our community to connect with one another. If you are interested in serving with one of our

teams, sign up at serve.citybeautifulchurch.com.

W O R S H I PWe see worship as the way in which we all engage with God, recognizing the power and beauty of expressing our love and af-fection for Him in one voice, as the the body and bride of Christ. We see a significant discipline and reverent posture modeled by worshipers in the Bible and intend to continue that by offering God our best; as worships leaders this is a large part of our ser-vice to the church. If you are interested in serving with us, email

[email protected].

T E C H N I C A LWe are composed of Sound, Lighting, and Projection and to-gether these three pieces work in unison to help create the en-vironment of our Sunday night gatherings. We believe this en-vironment can help facilitate an encounter with Christ and we would love to have you use your gifts and serve alongside of us in the creation of that environment. We are called to be a light unto the world. Our church finds itself in downtown Orlando as a call from God to affect the culture around us for His glory and to reflect His heart to the hurting and broken. As the call invites us to be a faithful presence in our neighborhoods and families here, it also draws us unto the world platform. We believe as we step out into the world at all levels we come to a deeper understanding of our divine vocation, in a way that would

never happen were we to hide within the walls of the church.

RELATIONSHIP

Above all activity and accomplishment, we elevate and cherish our relation-ships. We recognize that God created us for relationship and not simply a flurry of earthly or even spiritual ac-tivity.   We grow and mature not by accomplishing greater things, but by being transformed through loving re-lationship with God, self, and others.

HONEST EXPRESSION

We value honest expression of ourselves before God and one another.  Cele-bration and mourning, rejoicing and weeping; we don’t want to waste any time keeping up pretenses because God embraces us just as we are, simply and honestly ourselves.

PERSONAL AND MUTUAL RESPONSIBILITY

We value personal and mutual re-sponsibility in following after Christ, and  stewarding our relationship with God, self, and others in community.

SPIRITUAL MATURITY

We value spiritual maturity and the process of being conformed to the character of Christ.

CONTRIBUTION

We value a lifestyle of contribution, which is in contrast to our tendency toward consumerism.

CHURCH EVERYWHERE

We value the call to be the Church any-where we gather throughout the week.

UNITY

We value unity in the midst of our di-versity as part of the Church.

Together, we encourage, challenge and equip one another to recognize and continually live in God’s presence – abiding in Christ – further revealing

God’s love and kingdom to the world for His glory.
