Prayer, first and foremost,

ought to be about worship. God alone is worthy of

adoration and worship.

Page 5: Prayer

The Lord’s prayer begins with: “‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name…(Matthew 6:9)

Page 6: Prayer

Holding up God’s name for praise is our prime duty in prayer

Examples 1 Chronicles 29:10; 2 Chronicles 6:26-27

Luke 2:37

and acknowledge it as sin

Sin blocks communication with God

Confessing our sin ensures there are

no stumbling blocks with God

“Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone

who sins against us”Luke 11:4

Philippians 1:3-5“I thank my God every time

I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you,

I always pray with joy because of your partnership

in the gospel from the first day until now”

We should always be thankful, even for the little things.

Our heavenly Father wants His Children to bring their requests

To Him(Philippians 4:6)

Page 20: Prayer

Intercession is a type of supplication where we pray for the

needs of and concerns of others

Page 21: Prayer

And we should not just pray for our friends but also

“…pray for those who persecute you”

(Matthew 5:44)

Page 22: Prayer

Intercession is prayer for someone else - selfless, or self-giving prayer.

Jesus serves as our example in this area. The whole of John 17 is a prayer of Jesus on behalf

of His disciples and all believers.
