I DEVOTIONAL PRAYERSThese prayers may be selected and form part of other beloved devo-tions such as the Holy Rosary, Stations of the Cross, Divine Mercy Chaplet, etc. They are to invoke divine protection over ourselves,

our families, the Church, our nation and our world.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNIONSpiritual Communion is “an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament and in lov-ingly embracing Him as if we had actually received Him.” (St. Thomas Aquinas)

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you.

PRAYERS TO ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL

St. Michael the Archangel, illustrious leader of the heavenly army, defend us in our battle against the powers and principalitiesagainst the rulers of the world of darkness and the spirits of wickedness in high places.Come to the rescue of mankind, whom God has created in his imageand redeemed from Satan’s tyranny at such a great price.Holy Church venerates you as her patron and guardian;the Lord has entrusted you, St. Michael, with the task of leading the souls of the redeemed into the blessedness of heaven.Entreat the Lord of peace to cast Satan down under our feet so as to keep him from further holding us captive and doing harm to the ChurchCarry our prayers up to God the Most High, that the mercy of the Lord may quickly come and lay hold of the beast, the serpent of old, Satan and his de-mons, casting them in chains into the abyss so that they may no longer seduce the nations.

II LITURGICAL PRAYER“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,

by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Phil 4:6)

These petitions can be prayed whenever people are together, particularly at mealtimes or family prayers.

In times of trial, God has revealed himself as a God of mercy. He longs for his creatures to turn to him and pour out their hearts. With faith in this God of healing let us present to him our petitions during this difficult season.

    1. For all people afflicted with the Covid-19 virus and for all the sick, that receive the help they need and that they feel the healing presence of Jesus and offer to him their suffering, let us pray to the Lord.    R/ God of mercy, hear our prayer for the world.

    2.  For all who serve the sick, in hospitals, nursing homes, and at home, that the Holy Spirit give them the protection from harm and contagion, and that they have the appropriate protective supplies, let us pray to the Lord.    R/ God of mercy, hear our prayer for the world.

    3.  For scientists and researchers who are working to discover the cause, treatments and vaccines for Covid-19, that God would bestow the grace of knowledge and wisdom in their investigations, let us pray to the Lord.    R/ God of mercy, hear our prayer for the world.

    4. For our government leaders, local, state and federal, as well as all health organizations, that they seek truth and wisdom as they endeavor to help the people they serve, let us pray to the Lord.    R/ God of mercy, hear our prayer for the world.

    5.  For those who have died from Covid-19 and all other diseases, may they rest in the comfort and peace of our loving God, let us pray to the Lord.    R/ God of mercy, hear our prayer for the world.

(Add personal petitions)

God of healing and Lord of peace, hear the cry of our hearts as we raise them to you in the time of trial. Pour out your grace and love as we dedicate our-selves to your will. We ask this through Christ our Lord.R/ Amen.

III PROPHETIC INTERCESSIONFor those with an orientation of using the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, you are invited to intercede according to the inspiration of the Spirit’s guidance.

“The Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

(Rom 8:26)  “Pray in the Spirit at every occasion.” (Eph. 6:18).

Suggested Guidelines:

1.  Pray and ask God what He is doing on planet earth in this season. What is his purpose in allowing this pandemic and how he intends to use it for bringing people to • Salvation, healing and deliverance and • The knowledge of the Truth that is Jesus Christ. (1 Tim 2:4)• Thank God for what he is doing.

2.  Ask for and use the gifts of the Holy Spirit as you pray.   Particularly use the gifts of tongues, faith, miracles, healing gifts, word of knowledge, word of wisdom and prophetic declaration. (1Cor 12: 7-11)

3.   Ask God to direct you heart, mind and spirit. … to specific places on earth — persons, or groups of persons, or institutions that are in need relative to this pandemic. This could include people afflicted with Coronavirus, heal care givers and doctors, scientists, institutions, companies that make medical supplies, government leaders, etc. Using the gift of tongues as a start, ask God what they need. Thank God for what he is doing. Supplicate him for those needs. (1Tim 2:1)

4.  Do spiritual warfare. Ask God where and how deliverance is needed relative to this pandemic. This can be against diabolical forces, curses, programs, assignments, unholy bonds, and strongholds (against the knowledge of God and disobedience to his will). (Eph 6:10-17)

5.  Declare all unholy bonds between you and anyone you’ve prayed for cut and severed from you. Declare this session of intercession, your life and service sealed in the Blood of Jesus Christ and in the Holy Spirit. (Mt 18:18)

Page 8: Prayer in the Time of the Coronavirus...You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shade of the Almighty, Say to the LORD, “My refuge and fortress, my God in

You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shade of the Almighty,

Say to the LORD, “My refuge and fortress,my God in whom I trust.”

He will rescue you from the fowler’s snare, from the destroying plague,

He will shelter you with his pinions,and under his wings you may take refuge;

his faithfulness is a protecting shield.

You shall not fear the terror of the nightnor the arrow that flies by day,

Nor the pestilence that roams in darkness, nor the plague that ravages at noon.

Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand,

near you it shall not come.

You need simply watch;the punishment of the wicked you will see.

Because you have the LORD for your refugeand have made the Most High your stronghold,

No evil shall befall you,no affliction come near your tent.

For he commands his angels with regard to you,to guard you wherever you go.

With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.

You can tread upon the asp and the viper, trample the lion and the dragon.

‘Because he clings to me I will deliver him;because he knows my name I will set him on high.

He will call upon me and I will answer;I will be with him in distress;

I will deliver him and give him honor.

With length of days I will satisfy him,and fill him with my saving power.’
