POWER TO GRASP

•Eph. 3:18 –”grasp” the benefits in heart & mind

THE INTEGRITY OF PRAYER

•Outfaced priority is the path to a scary world

• It keeps us uncomfortable with self-exam

• Inward priority is the path to stability

•The struggle between these two robs integrity

• Sin has imbedded in it the virus of its own consequence. We’ll either give in or give up

1/18/15 JOHN R. WIBLE, EDITOR 6

THE INNER SELF• John Owen: “It’s who we are on our knees:”

•The test of who you are: Do you Miss God?

•Matt. 6:5-6 No hypocrites

•Advice: “Cultivate wanting to pray until you need it”

•However, do it in community

•Public/private prayer is at the heart of knowing God

1/18/15 JOHN R. WIBLE, EDITOR 7

THE HARDNESS OF PRAYER•Prayer’s not easy. We must search for God.

•Picture a young woman seeking a husband.

•The struggle makes the relationship strong

• Job struggles to find God. 23:3

•Phelps: “Knowledge of the absence of God”

•Learn to feel the “dryness” else you’ll forget
