Baggage Restrictions• Cadets may only bring 1 checked bag and 1 carry-on bag (their EF tours

backpack)• The maximum weight for one piece of luggage is 23kg or 50lbs.• All Cadets have to lift their own luggage on and off the bus and carry it into their

hotel rooms. Packing light, it essential—a good rule of thumb is that if you cannot carry your suitcase up and down a flight of stairs it is too heavy! You also want to leave room for any souvenirs you might pick up along the trip.

• Carry-On Luggage• Cadets cannot bring any liquids or gels through security check points unless they

are travel sized (for example 100ml or less). Bottles of water are not permitted through the security check points at all.

• Remember to pack all medications (clearly identified with your name on them) in your carry-on luggage.

• For information on what you can and can not bring in your checked luggage, see the CATSA Website: http://www.catsa.gc.ca/whatcanIbring

Carry-on Restrictions • Containers of liquids, non-solid

food and personal items in your carry-on must be 100 ml/100 g (3.4 oz) or less. All containers must fit in one clear, resealableplastic bag no more than 1L in capacity. The bag must be transparent so screening officers can easily see the contents.

• Beverages: Drink or discard any beverages in containers of more than 100 ml before you get to security screening checkpoint. This includes water in your personal water bottle. You can refill your container once you pass through security.

• Food not consumed, including food in checked baggage, will be subject to the regulations of the country you are visiting.

• Fresh fruit, meat, cheeses (fresh foods) will need to be consumed or disposed of.

Kit List• Kit list on our Website & in our

backpack• Change: No Uniforms • Pack light: We will be responsible for

loading our own luggage on and off the bus and into hotels.

• You are responsible for any luggage handling fees charged by the airlines.

• Carry any valuables or medications in your EF backpack or carry-on.

• Pack a change of clothes in your carry-on in case your luggage is lost.

Spending Money • EF tours recommends $50-60 (CAN) a day or 35-40£/€. • ATMs are the best way to get money (according to EF!)

However check with your bank about fees (CAD-USD-EURO)• Check with your own bank if planning of using a debit/credit

card. • Don’t bring traveler’s checks• Have enough cash on hand to cover the first two days of

travel since it may be difficult to find an ATM right away• You are responsible for your own lunches• 90% of our tour is pre-paid for – however there will be “low-

cost extra opportunities” that you may want to take part in.

Expectations for CadetsHigh Expectations for Cadets

• The expectations for Cadets while on the trip will be extremely high! While traveling Cadets will not only be representing the Squadron/Cadet Program, they will be representing Canada on international soil!

• The Cadet Code of Conduct should be reviewed by each cadet prior to departure. Cadets should be aware, that regardless of the laws in the UK & France, no Cadet is permitted to consume alcohol at any point during the trip.

• Serious issues with conduct, including consumption or possession of drugs/alcohol, theft, purposely leaving the group or failing to follow directions from Staff/Tour Director will result in the Cadets immediate removal from the trip. Upon directions from the CO, EF Tours will arrange transportation and a flight back to Toronto at the parent/guardian’s expense.

Dress Code Reminder:

• Cadets are required to wear their Squadron Jacket and Khaki, Navy Blue or Black pants. Jeans & Sweat/Exercise pants are not permitted. Cadets may only wear sweat pants when traveling on the first and last day to be more comfortable on aircraft.

• Cadets are reminded there are high expectations while traveling. Clothing should be appropriate & respectful at all times.

• Cadets are also encouraged to bring one

“dressier” outfit for the last dinner on Day 8.

Safety & Security • We are traveling with EF Tours for the added benefit of having

a full time Tour Director, and a network of support to rely on. However we must still be careful. • Small groups will be used while traveling • Numbers – used when in one large group to quickly account for

everyone. Pay attention & no talking. • Stay with the group – tell an adult before going somewhere. • Guard your money & valuables – especially in Paris! Pick-

pocketing is a serious issue. Jackets have hidden inside pocket.

Day 1 – At the Optimist Hall • This will be a busy/stressful day – your co-operation is critical! • Everyone must arrive at the Optimist Hall for 1:30PM• Eat Lunch before you arrive & bring snacks (that can go through

airport security). • Kit check will be conducted in groups – look for your adult group

leader when you arrive. • Luggage will be loaded into cargo van once checked. • PARENTS: DO NOT LEAVE until your cadets luggage has been

checked.• Bus will be loaded starting at 2:15PM – and depart at 2:30PM at

the latest.

Day 1 – At the Airport/In Flight• Once we arrive at Terminal 1 – Cadet are responsible for

their own luggage. • No horseplay or silliness in the Airport! • Cadets must say in their groups – you are a ”family” of 5-6

when traveling through the airport. • Everyone will be ”checked-in” already – Will only need to

pick up boarding pass & check-in luggage. • Once we are at the gate, if you need to use the

washroom/buy food – you must get permission from your adult supervisor & have a buddy.

• On the airplane – sit only in your assigned seat, be respectful to others & stay seated!

• SLEEP ON THE PLANE! Bring a pillow. Consider melatonin or Gravol for air sickness & to help you sleep.

• We leave at 6:35PM EST and arrive 6:00AM GMT - if you don’t sleep on the airplane, you will be up for another 15 hours!

Day 1 – In London• Once we disembark the airplane – in your groups you will move

through customs & pick up your luggage. • All cadets are using a Canadian Passport.• We will meet our Tour Director – Gareth Newton • 1-1.5 hour coach bus ride to Hotel • Check in to Hotel & Drop off luggage – may have time to

change. • Start trip with visit to Imperial War Museum & Walking Tour.Tip: Stay wake all day! Will help prevent jet lag!

Return - March 16th

• Expected to land in Montreal at 3:30PM EST, Depart at 6:30PM EST for Toronto • Arrive in Toronto at 7:30PM • Once we are Canada our ETA at the Optimist Hall will be

updated on our Website. • We expect to arrive at the Optimist Hall between 9:30-

10:30PM • Check the website for update – please don’t call Lt. Slack for

updates.

Feedback from 75 Sqn – Grand Valley • They traveled on the same trip with EF Tours last May. • We have the same tour director – Cadets described him as “Funny, a little

weird, and very knowledgeable” • Sleep on the airplane!! • Bring a water bottle everywhere • Don’t overload the backpacks or they might break • When your given an opportunity to use the washroom – take it• A lot of walking – wear good shoes!• Spent more Euros than Pounds • Average cadet spent 20-30 £/€ a day • Lunch was cheaper in London than anywhere else. • Their “extras” where going up the Eiffel Tower and taking a boat tour in

Paris as a group. • Overall very positive feedback!
